Chinese actress Wang Yinglu has stepped forward to clear the air after online chatter accused her of “grabbing a seat” during the Tencent Video All Star Night Awards 2025, a claim that quickly gained traction on social media.
The discussion kicked off after the ceremony on 21 December, when anonymous posts suggested a female artist had switched seats with a male artist, allegedly pushing him from the second row to the third.
With only vague clues shared — “second and third row” and “female artist, male artist” — netizens soon began guessing names, pulling Wang Yinglu into the spotlight.

The 25-year-old actress, who recently gained attention through her collaboration with Chen Feiyu in When Destiny Brings the Demon, had attended the event in full glamour and was awarded the Annual Progressive Artist Award. What should have been a celebratory moment instead turned into an unexpected online storm the following day.
On 22 December, Wang Yinglu addressed the situation personally on social media. She explained that she had only seen the discussion after landing from a flight and firmly denied any wrongdoing.
“I didn’t grab a seat. I’m new and wouldn’t dare to. I sat where my name was posted,” she wrote, adding an apology for the confusion and wishing everyone happiness.

Her studio followed up swiftly with an official clarification, stressing that Wang Yinglu was seated strictly according to the organiser’s arrangement.
They emphasised that there was no seat change involved and urged the public to remain mindful with their words and help maintain a healthier online environment.

Despite this, some fans of other artists continued to question the seating logic, pointing out that Wang Yinglu’s award category usually places recipients in the same row.
This led to speculation that the seating did not “match” the awards, fuelling assumptions of behind-the-scenes adjustments.
However, according to information tied to the event’s official planning, all seating was arranged by Tencent in advance, making the accusation both illogical and unsupported.
No evidence has surfaced to suggest that Wang Yinglu or her team made any request to alter seating.
As of now, the situation appears to be a classic case of over-interpretation following a high-profile event packed with top stars. With Wang Yinglu having spoken clearly and organisers backing her statement, the so-called “seat-grabbing” controversy seems to rest more on guesswork than facts.
