Japanese idol group ≠ME (Not Equal ME) have officially confirmed that they have reached a settlement with the group responsible for disrupting their release event in April 2025, an incident that ultimately forced the event’s cancellation. The announcement was shared through the group’s official website on 21 December, bringing formal closure to a situation that had caused widespread concern among fans.
The incident took place on 29 April during a release event for ≠ME’s 10th single in Koshigaya, Saitama.
According to the statement, around 20 individuals caused a serious disturbance at the CD sales area, disrupting operations and leading to police intervention. As a result, organisers had no choice but to cancel the event entirely.

In their statement, ≠ME explained that the disturbance not only halted the event but also affected staff, members, visitors to the venue, and fans who had attended with genuine excitement.
The group apologised for the worry and inconvenience caused, acknowledging the disappointment felt by those who had been looking forward to the event.
While specific details of the settlement were not disclosed, ≠ME confirmed several key outcomes.

Compensation related to the cancelled event has been paid, and the individuals involved have been permanently barred from attending any future events connected to ≠ME or the companies involved in organising and operating their activities.
This ban extends across all related events moving forward. Once again, that ban is not limited to just one venue or one event. It covers all future events hosted, co-hosted, or related to the group and its management partners.
Notably, the group also confirmed that the disruptive fan group involved in repeated nuisance behaviour has now been disbanded.

As part of the settlement, those responsible have pledged not to engage in similar actions again in the future.
≠ME and the related organisations emphasised that they will continue to take firm action against disruptive behaviour.

The statement reaffirmed their commitment to creating a safe, welcoming environment where fans can enjoy events with peace of mind.
Closing the announcement, the group thanked fans for their continued support and patience, and asked for understanding as they work to ensure future events are held smoothly and safely.
For many fans, the update offers reassurance that lessons have been taken seriously, and that clearer boundaries are now firmly in place to protect both artists and audiences going forward.
