| Blood Coast Season 2 Finale: The Truth Behind Victor, Ali, and Lyes’ Biggest Betrayal Yet (Credits: Netflix) |
Netflix’s French action–crime thriller Blood Coast has returned with a season that’s every bit as gritty and chaotic as Marseille itself. Season 2 stays true to the show’s sharp, street-level tone, while quietly turning up the heat until everything blows in an ending that’s bold without drifting into fantasy. With Lyes Benamar finally forced to choose sides, the finale lands with weight — and leaves just enough mess behind to tease a seriously charged Season 3.
If you’ve just finished the season and your head’s spinning from all the alliances, betrayals, and last-minute switch-ups, don’t worry — here’s the full breakdown of how Season 2 wraps and why Lyes is now deeper in the game than ever.
Did Lyes Really Kill Victor Miranda?
The question that drives the early part of the finale is a big one: did Lyes genuinely shoot Marseille Police’s second-in-command, Victor Miranda? On paper, yes — the CCTV shows him firing the shot, and Victor ends up publicly declared dead. Even Alice, Lyes’ closest person on the force, is shaken.
But as it turns out, the only thing “dead” was Victor’s evening plans.

From the start of the season, Lyes had been secretly teamed with Victor to gather the evidence needed to bring down drug lord Ali Saidi. When Ali ordered Lyes to take out Victor, the two men executed a counter-plan. Victor wore a bulletproof vest, Lyes fired a staged shot, and Victor played along, collapsing dramatically for the cameras. He then hid out on a houseboat while the media went wild.
Alice eventually tracks him down and uncovers the truth. Meanwhile, Ali is convinced that Lyes has genuinely avenged Leila’s arrest, bringing the two men disturbingly close.
What Actually Happened to Leila?
Ali’s desperation to protect his niece, Leila, drives many of his decisions this season. Lyes even bribes prison staff to keep her safe. But the plan collapses when Leila is found dead in her cell.
Far from being a tragic accident, her death is a calculated move by Ali’s own business associates. Jaddou Sidi’s organisation — fearing the secrets Leila held — eliminates her through the ruthless enforcer Chris. Ali’s grief and rage after losing Leila become the fuse that blows open the finale.
Lyes’ Future Plan — and Why He Chooses Ali Over the Police
Once Lyes reconnects with his old team, he seems ready to return to the police side for good. He even hands them the location of a container stacked with drugs — supposedly the perfect catch to take down Ali Saidi.
Except he doesn’t.
Behind the scenes, Lyes pulls a double-bluff, smuggling the drugs out before the police arrive. When the container is checked, it’s empty, leaving the entire police operation in ruins.
Why? Two reasons:
-
Lyes believes Ali can help him protect his ex-wife and regain stability for his child.
-
He and Ali share history. Long before the gangs and corruption, they were childhood friends — and Lyes can’t bring himself to be the one who destroys him.
But Lyes isn’t the only one with old enemies.
Who Actually Kills Ali Saidi?
Ali’s downfall comes not from the police or Lyes, but from Yassine Djaoui, who’s been spiralling ever since his younger brother’s arrest. After being captured and beaten by Ali, Yassine seizes a split-second opportunity during Ali and Lyes’ tense confrontation. He grabs Ali’s gun and shoots him twice, killing him instantly.
Yassine escapes, leaving Lyes devastated and alone beside the body of the man he tried — and failed — to save.
The Djaoui brothers’ unresolved arc is clearly being held back for Season 3.
Why Tobias Is Killed
During a meeting with Chris from the Sidi organisation, Lyes discovers Tobias — Ali’s cousin — is secretly attempting to sell the same drugs to Dutch buyers behind Chris’ back. Unfortunately for Tobias, the Dutch gang is quietly dealing with the Sidis.
Chris eliminates Tobias on the spot, emphasising that betrayal is dealt with swiftly and publicly in their world. It’s also a warning shot at Lyes.

What Happens to Lyes in the Final Scene?
With Ali gone, Lyes steps into more dangerous territory than ever. Instead of killing him, Chris makes an unexpected offer: she wants Lyes to replace Ali Saidi as the new point-man for the empire.
Why him?
Because Lyes has something nobody else does — access to police officers who still trust him. Chris believes he can use those connections to shield their operations and remove obstacles.
Lyes’ answer isn’t shown — but the direction is obvious. To bring down the entire drug network from the inside, he may need to climb even higher within it.
Season 2 ends with Lyes standing on a knife’s edge, playing both sides and belonging to neither.

What to Expect in Blood Coast Season 3
If Netflix moves forward with the third season, expect the stakes to skyrocket. Here’s what the setup hints at:
1. Lyes as an Embedded Crime Boss
With Chris offering him Ali’s former role, Season 3 could follow Lyes operating at the very top of Marseille’s drug network — while secretly gathering evidence to bring it all down. Whether he can keep up the act is another matter entirely.
2. The Return of the Djaoui Brothers
With Yassine on the run and Mehdi possibly being released, the brothers are primed to become major antagonists again. Their grudge against both Ali’s people and the police puts them on a collision course with Lyes.
3. Chris and the Sidi Network Expanding
Chris clearly sees Lyes as a weapon she can direct. Expect her to push him deeper into operations, creating both opportunity and danger.
4. Alice and the Police Walking a Fine Line
If Alice suspects Lyes is still playing both sides, their relationship and loyalty will be tested like never before. Season 3 is likely to strain their trust to breaking point.
5. A Larger Organised Crime Landscape
The Dutch connection, hidden alliances, and rival syndicates teased this season suggest that the world of Blood Coast is about to get wider — and deadlier.
