Chinese actor Wang Ziqi found himself at the centre of online discussion after a video showing him throwing a cigarette butt out of a car window began circulating on social media.

In the short clip, Wang Zi Qi is seen smoking inside a vehicle before flicking the cigarette butt out of the window. 

The moment quickly caught the attention of netizens, many of whom criticised the behaviour as careless, environmentally unfriendly, and potentially risky in public spaces.

As the video gained traction, Wang Ziqi responded swiftly. 

He released a public statement through his official social media account, offering a clear apology and acknowledging his mistake. 

In his message, Wang Ziqi admitted fault and expressed regret for adding unnecessary burden to sanitation workers. He also noted that he failed to fully consider the possible risks of his actions at the time.

“I sincerely apologise for causing inconvenience to sanitation workers and for not recognising the potential risks of my behaviour,” he wrote. 

“I will strictly discipline myself moving forward. Thank you to everyone for the criticism and reminders.”

Public reaction to his apology has been mixed. Some netizens praised Wang Ziqi for addressing the issue promptly and taking responsibility without deflection. 

They viewed his response as sincere and appreciated his willingness to reflect on the incident.
