Zhao Yingzi Breaks Silence on Zhang Kangle Relationship Speculation

Chinese actress Sarah Zhao Yingzi finally waded into the swirling dating chatter on 8 November, brushing aside rumours that she’s seeing fellow actor Zhang Kangle.

In a livestream, she bluntly described the speculation as nothing more than fans’ imaginations—and made it crystal clear she never named anyone herself.

“I can speak up now,” she said, visibly annoyed.

“So who is my actual boyfriend? You’re the ones tying my name to this person or that person. From the start till the end I never mentioned a single name.”

She added that the awkwardness came because she had met Zhang Kangle a few days prior—something she felt made the whole thing even more bizarre.

Sharp Retorts and Shade

The star didn’t stop there. On the subject of riding co-attendant fame, Zhao dropped a dry line:

“They say I’m just hopping on someone else’s fame? When I was acting, he hadn’t even popped up yet. If there’s mutual hopping, fine—maybe we’re both helping each other shine.”

Her tone oscillated between irritation and wry humour.

Her directness got plenty of reaction: on one hand, fans applauded her honesty; on the other, some argued that her comments only fuelled more speculation.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just your average celeb rumour.

Zhao Yingzi’s commentary taps into larger themes: the oft-unbalanced dynamic of public personas in Chinese entertainment, the pressure to be “linked” romantically, and how one off-hand line becomes headline fodder.

By refusing to “drop a name” but still talking in veiled terms, she’s both defying the insinuation and allowing the speculation to persist.

Smart or risky? Time will tell.

  • Zhao Yingzi is emerging more vocal about how she’s portrayed online and in media.

  • Her remarks may shift how fans and netizens treat “link-ups” in the Chinese star-system.

  • For Zhang Kangle, the indirect mention increases the spotlight — whether he wants it or not.

  • For brand partnerships and ticket-sales, ambiguity still holds power: people talk, which keeps names circulating.

Zhao Yingzi’s livestream came across as a mix of exasperation and strategic clearing-of-air.

She didn’t confirm anything, but she did challenge the narrative—pushing back against the idea that she’s quietly dating someone and letting the press or social buzz do the rest.

In short: whether you believe her or not, she’s flipped the script in her own voice.
