| Actor-Model Zhang Liang Responds Firmly to Viral Allegations Involving His Son (Photo: Weibo) |
Chinese actor-model Zhang Liang issued a firm statement after a wave of online posts began accusing his son, Zhang Yuexuan (better known as Tian Tian), of serious misconduct.
According to the star’s official studio, the viral claims were entirely fabricated and had already caused “serious damage” to the family’s name and legal rights.
Zhang Liang’s management was blunt in its announcement: none of the circulating stories matched reality, and the team would take legal action against anyone producing or spreading false content.
Shortly after, Zhang Liang himself posted on social media, stressing that the situation had already been handed over to authorities.
“The police are officially involved. The online space is not a place without rules. Please stop spreading baseless claims,”
he wrote.
For context, Zhang Liang — born Zhang Zhensuo on 26 March 1982 in Beijing — is a well-known figure in China’s entertainment industry, rising to fame through modelling before transitioning successfully into acting.
Rumour Spreads on 27 November, Online Speculation Drags Zhang Liang Into the Mix
The issue escalated on 27 November after a social media post claimed that a “celebrity father who sells malatang opened a restaurant chain and later sent his troublesome son abroad, where he reportedly caused issues for his schoolmates.”
Although no names were mentioned, some users quickly began linking the vague description to Zhang Liang and his son, fuelling unnecessary speculation.
Zhang Liang responded once again, repeating that the accusations were entirely false and already under police handling.
He also urged the public not to repeat unverified stories and to stay cautious when encountering dramatic narratives online.
His studio later doubled down, confirming they were preparing legal measures against accounts intentionally stirring up noise for clicks.
Why the Story Caught Fire Online
Chinese entertainment circles noted that the rumour spread rapidly partly because many viewers still remember Tian Tian from his childhood variety show days.

He had a massive “cute kid” following, and seeing his name suddenly dragged into messy gossip shocked long-time fans.
Some online posts also resurfaced old photos from when Tian Tian was younger, pointing out how much he has grown — especially after sharing a birthday photo from the US on 12 November, now aged 18 and looking more mature and increasingly resembling his father.

However, the additional unverified narratives claiming past school difficulties, rebellious teenage behaviour, or early romances were not supported by any official records, and the studio did not address such claims directly — instead keeping the focus on the legal aspect.
A Reminder From Zhang Liang: Teenagers Need Guidance, Not Public Speculation
In broader commentary from netizens and bloggers, many noted that celebrities face the same challenges as ordinary parents when raising teenagers — especially during rebellious phases or early relationships.
But spreading dramatic, unverified stories online only creates confusion and unnecessary pressure for both families involved.
Zhang Liang emphasised this point indirectly by appealing for rationality and lawful behaviour online.
As Tian Tian is now legally an adult, the actor stressed that public commentary should remain responsible and respectful, instead of jumping to conclusions.
As the case is now with authorities, Zhang Liang’s team is focusing on:
-
identifying the origins of the fabricated claims
-
pursuing legal accountability for defamation
-
preventing further spread of misleading stories
For now, the studio has made it clear: the circulating allegations are false, and the family is prepared to protect their rights through formal channels.
