A year after Heroes — the underdog late Qing action drama that quietly built a loyal cult following — the same creative team is back with something darker, sharper, and far more haunting.

Their latest project, Blemish Flaw (棕眼之谜), is a 16-episode psychological suspense series that dives deep into obsession, guilt, and the cracks beneath a picture-perfect life.

Update: Blemish Flaw Ending Recap.

The Plot: When Truth Gets Twisted

Qin Junjie stars as Yang Zhenghui, a true-crime vlogger who’s never stopped searching for his missing ex-girlfriend Liu Wei (Fu Jing).

Three years after her disappearance, his trail leads him to Zeng Jie (Wang Duo) — a famous ceramic artist whose studio fire suspiciously overlaps with Liu Wei’s vanishing act.

On paper, Zeng Jie looks flawless: talented, gentle, and devoted to his wife, Bai Xiaoling (Huang Mengying).

But behind that serene smile lurks a far darker motive — one that involves murder, inheritance, and manipulation.

Meanwhile, Bai Xiaoling, elegant but confined to a wheelchair, isn’t as helpless as she appears.

She’s quietly plotting her own revenge, setting the stage for a tangled web of deceit and survival.

Familiar Faces, New Energy

Fans of Heroes will be thrilled to see several familiar names return.

Inside Tencent’s New Thriller Blemish Flaw

While Liu Yuning isn’t part of this lineup, Wang Duo slides effortlessly into the role of the deceptively charming husband who raises every possible red flag.

The cast also includes Pang Hanchen and Chen Siche, with special appearances by Zhang Ming’en and Li Muchen — a nice little surprise for viewers who love ensemble chemistry done right.

Symbolism and Style

The title Blemish Flaw refers to imperfections that appear on ceramics during firing — a poetic nod to how tiny cracks can expose something far more sinister beneath the surface.

Adapted from the web novel Zong Yan Zhi Mi (棕眼之谜) by Jiu Jie Xian Sheng (九介先生), the story carries Bai Yicong’s signature touches of layered mystery and psychological realism.

Why Blemish Flaw Might Be This Year’s Sleeper Hit

If Heroes showed the team’s flair for period storytelling, Blemish Flaw proves they can just as easily pull off a tightly woven modern thriller.

Directed by Wei Lizhou, the drama promises shifting perspectives and contradictions that’ll keep viewers guessing right till the final episode.
