| Alice Ko Finally Speaks Up as Husband Kunda Hsieh Faces Military Evasion Probe (Photo: Yahoo TW) |
Taiwanese actress Alice Ko has officially stepped back into the spotlight, marking her first public appearance since her husband — Energy member and TV personality Kunda Hsieh — became the centre of a growing military evasion scandal. Alice Ko was attending promotional events for her latest project Had I Not Seen the Sun when reporters seized the moment to bring up the issue that has dominated entertainment headlines all week.
Naturally, someone fired the question everyone expected: “How is your mood recently?”. The query was clearly aimed at her husband’s arrest, yet Ko handled it with her trademark dry humour. Pretending she couldn’t find the source of the voice, she playfully turned her head and said, “Eh? Where did that voice come from?”
Once the laughter settled, she answered seriously, saying the situation is “something he is facing and reflecting on”, adding softly, “I’m just accompanying him.”
Alice Ko, who married Hsieh in 2017, made several attempts to steer the press back to her film — even jokingly mentioning her on-screen kissing scene with actor Zeng Jinghua just to shift the focus.
But the media wasn’t letting go that easily.
When asked bluntly whether she knew beforehand that her husband had avoided his military duties, she responded without hesitation:
“Of course I didn’t know.”
She also addressed online rumours suggesting she had received prior notice about the investigation, clarifying: “I only found out on the day the news broke.”
Kunda Hsieh Rushes Home as Investigation Intensifies
The case escalated after Taiwanese law-enforcement officers reportedly visited the couple’s home to take Kunda Hsieh into custody. At the time, he was abroad in Vancouver filming for a variety show, leaving Ko at home when authorities arrived.
Upon receiving word of the investigation, Hsieh immediately cancelled his filming schedule and arranged an early return to Taiwan.
According to his management, he has been cooperating fully and was released on bail after questioning.
In a formal statement, his agency confirmed that Kunda Hsieh will “accept all legal responsibilities as determined by judicial authorities, without making excuses or unnecessary defences.”
The studio stressed his commitment to cooperating throughout the ongoing inquiry.
The scandal has drawn intense attention in Taiwan, with the entertainment industry and public closely tracking each new update in the case.
Energy Hit With Activity Suspension — But Christmas Single Goes Ahead
The situation has also affected Kunda Hsieh’s group Energy, which was ordered by label Believe Music to halt all activities for eight months. Aside from charity work, all performances and scheduled projects have been paused.
However, one bright moment remains: Energy had already completed recording a festive charity single before the scandal broke, so the company allowed its release as planned.
The group teamed up with Della Ding Dang, Ann Bai, GBOYSWAG, and Hsiao Bing-chiu for a fresh cover of Mayday’s whimsical track “Christmas Eve’s Nightmare.”
The MV shoot, held before the controversy, featured the whole crew in full holiday mood — Christmas décor, gift exchanges, board games, and even a pillow fight.
It was so lively that fans said it felt “like watching a big family reunion.” The video even includes surprise appearances from Mayday’s Monster and Ashin, with fans calling it “the best Christmas gift.”
