| Where Was The Death of Bunny Munro Filmed? A Full Guide to Every Shooting Location in Brighton |
If you’ve just finished the premiere of The Death of Bunny Munro and thought, “Hold on… where did they film all this?”, you’re definitely not alone. The series doesn’t just ride on Matt Smith’s performance or Nick Cave’s eerie storytelling charm — the scenery itself is doing half the work. From classic English seaside towns to tucked-away residential streets, the show is packed with real locations you can actually visit.
Of course, not every filming spot was public during production — crews kept things quiet at the time to avoid any over-excited fans turning up mid-take. But now that the miniseries has officially aired, we’ve got a solid list of confirmed locations around UK. If you fancy a little screen-tourism, these places are absolutely doable for a weekend trip.
Here’s your full guide, with a bit of local colour added in.
All Confirmed Filming Locations of The Death of Bunny Munro
Worthing
Production rolled into Worthing in June 2024, where Matt Smith was spotted lounging in a vintage car for a roadside sequence along the seafront.
At one point, he was even caught mid-yawn — very on-brand for Bunny’s chaotic energy.
Worthing’s no stranger to arts history either. Oscar Wilde and Harold Pinter both spent time here, and the town is home to the Dome, one of Britain’s oldest working cinemas.
It’s a surprisingly atmospheric backdrop, giving Bunny’s road trip that slightly faded-holiday vibe the story thrives on.
Eastbourne
In May 2024, filming crews and Matt were seen around Fisherman’s Green car park.
He was also practising lines while walking Bobby the dog along Eastbourne’s breezy promenade.
Eastbourne is one of the UK’s classic seaside picks — think Victorian hotels, the elegant Eastbourne Pier, and a 1930s bandstand that looks straight out of a film set even when you’re not shooting a drama.
It’s the kind of place that looks peaceful but hides a certain melancholy, perfect for Bunny’s downward spiral.
Shoreham-by-Sea
Locals clocked production teams on Shoreham Beach in May, particularly around Old Fort Road.
The coastline here is a bit rougher, a bit more unvarnished — great for capturing the grittier parts of Bunny’s emotional journey.
Shoreham itself has that calm coastal-town charm: the River Adur, rolling views from Mill Hill, and Southwick Hill’s sweeping greenery.
It’s an underrated gem if you prefer quieter seaside spots.
Brighton
Brighton is practically a character in Nick Cave’s storytelling.
Cave lived here for nearly 20 years, and his novels and films often circle back to the city’s shifting moods — from its lively pier and nightlife to its more sombre corners.
A lot of the drama’s heart comes from Brighton’s contradictions: colourful but cold, fun but fleeting, always carrying an undercurrent of nostalgia.
Cave himself once called the country’s coastlines “beautifully depressing”, and Brighton fits that aesthetic almost too well.
Hove
Filming also took place in Hove, particularly on Richardson Road and Lawrence Road. Crews even transformed the area with props — a phone box, a bus stop, and signage for the nearby village of Barnham — giving the streets a slightly time-warped look.
Matt Smith was also spotted working in locations around Whitehawk, Belchers Café on Montpelier Road, and Bedford Square.
Hove, being quieter than Brighton, offers more controlled filming conditions but still has that signature seaside architecture.
Planning a Trip?
Some of the locations — seafronts, town centres, promenades — are open to any visitor.
Others, especially certain residential streets, aren’t designed for tourism but can still be admired from a respectful distance.
Tonboriday.com will continue updating this list as new spots are confirmed, so keep us bookmarked if you’re planning your own Bunny-style trail.
Fancy Visiting These Places?
If you’re a fan of moody seaside atmospheres, vintage architecture, or simply want to recreate a few iconic frames (minus Bunny’s life choices), Brighton is a solid shout for your next holiday. Whether you’re after Eastbourne’s Victorian glow, Brighton’s quirky charm, or the quieter stretches of Shoreham, each location brings a different flavour of the story to life.
Stay tuned — we’ll add new filming spots as they’re revealed.
