| Sun Feifei’s Divorce Story Sparks Huge Discussion on Chinese Social Media (Photo: Phoenix) |
Chinese actress Sun Feifei, well known for c-dramas like Beijing, My Love, has officially confirmed her divorce, posting the announcement on Weibo on 12 September. What looked from the outside like a quiet, stable marriage has now turned into one of the most talked-about topics on Chinese social media — especially after Sun decided to speak up about what she calls “the most exhausting years” of her life.
According to public records, Sun married Shi Hong (Jack Shi), a Chinese-American tech executive, in 2014. The pair registered their marriage on 5 June in Beijing and held a wedding celebration a month later.
Not long after, Sun publicly shared her pregnancy photos in 2015, which drew warm attention at the time.
But in a recent interview with Phoenix Weekly (published 27 November), the actress revealed that the real story behind her marriage was far from the idyllic image seen by the public.
“The Hardest Part Was Staying”: Sun Reveals Emotional Strain
Sun explained that the divorce itself didn’t change much — the real struggle happened during the marriage. She said she supported the family almost entirely on her own, claiming that from the second year of marriage onwards, her husband no longer contributed to household expenses.
She also described feeling overly controlled, emotionally shut out, and repeatedly doubted without clear reasons.
The most shocking part for many readers, however, was her revelation about how her ex-husband treated their child.
Sun stated that despite a DNA test showing a 99.99% match, her ex-husband insisted there was “still that 0.001% chance” the child wasn’t his.
She recalled that when she was pregnant, he had genuinely wanted the child, but his attitude shifted dramatically after the birth. Even when the baby started calling him “dad” at eight months, he refused to hold the child, acting cold and distant.
Sun Feifei added that the child — now ten — has never received even a simple birthday or holiday gift from the father.

Long Legal Battle and a Sudden “I Miss the Child” Message
The road to divorce wasn’t easy either. Sun said her ex-husband refused to agree, forcing her to file for divorce multiple times. After two years and three rounds of legal proceedings, the marriage was finally dissolved.
Ironically, Sun Feifei revealed that shortly after the divorce was finalised, her ex-husband suddenly messaged her saying he “missed the child” — a complete contrast to his years of doubt and emotional distance.
In court, when faced with child-support responsibilities, he again questioned the child’s parentage and avoided a repeat DNA test by claiming he “didn’t have time”.
Throughout the marriage, Sun said she handled almost everything alone — buying property, managing family costs, covering the child’s education, and taking care of day-to-day expenses.
She described the experience as living “like a widow in marriage”, carrying both emotional and financial burdens while dealing with cold treatment and distrust.
