Perfume’s A~chan Announces Marriage to Long-Time Friend and Fan: “My Teenage Dream Came True!”

Big congrats are in order for Perfume’s A~chan! The J-pop icon, whose real name is Ayaka Nishiwaki (36), surprised fans today, November 11, with a heartwarming announcement on Instagram — she’s officially married to a non-celebrity man who’s been both her best friend and loyal fan for years.

Sharing her happiness, A~chan wrote,

“We’ve been friends for a long time, we know so much about each other, we’re best friends, and he is a fan who wholeheartedly supports me and Perfume. Marrying a fan has always been my dream. Congratulations to my teenage self! You did it!”

The announcement came right after Perfume revealed that the group will be entering a “cold sleep” — a temporary hiatus — later this year.

With over 20 years in the spotlight, the news feels like both an emotional pause and a beautiful new beginning for A~chan herself.

💫 From Hiroshima to the World: Perfume’s Journey

Perfume — made up of A~chan, Kashiyuka (Yuka Kashino), and Nocchi (Ayano Ōmoto) — began their story in Hiroshima back in 2000 before making their major debut with “Linear Motor Girl” in 2005.

Under the direction of producer Yasutaka Nakata, their futuristic techno-pop sound and perfectly synchronised performances made them one of Japan’s most distinctive acts.

Hits like “Polyrhythm” and “Chocolate Disco” didn’t just top charts — they redefined J-pop for an entire generation.

From dazzling laser-filled concerts to innovative motion-capture stage effects, Perfume blended music and technology like no one else.

Their 2013 London concert was a massive success, helping the trio reach fans worldwide.

💖 A~chan’s Personal Chapter

Born on 15 February 1989 in Hiroshima, A~chan has always been known for her warm energy, humour, and ability to connect deeply with fans.

She often leads MC segments at concerts with her infectious positivity, balancing the group’s calm and cool image with her natural charm.

Outside Perfume, she’s dabbled in modelling, TV hosting, and voice acting — truly a multi-talented entertainer.

She’s also the older sister of 9nine member Sayaka Nishiwaki (Chaapon), making the Nishiwaki sisters one of Japan’s most beloved entertainment duos.

In her Instagram post, A~chan hinted at her hopes for the future, writing about how she sees new roles like “#mother,” “#mama,” and “#baby” naturally becoming part of her life’s journey.

She added, “I want to become a deeper, more loving person — a superwoman who can share even more smiles and power with everyone.”

🌸 Fans React: “It’s Like a Real-Life Drama!”

The internet couldn’t get enough of her heartfelt words. On X (Twitter) and Instagram, fans flooded her post with messages of joy and nostalgia:

  • “She really married her fan — that’s so A~chan!”

  • “Her teenage dream came true, it’s so wholesome!”

  • “From idol to wife, still inspiring as ever.”

Some fans even joined in her hashtag trend, creating their own “#IfIAssociateAchanWithHashtags” challenge, filling social media with love and memories of Perfume’s iconic moments.

Music insiders also noted the timing — coming right as Perfume prepares to pause activities — calling it “a symbolic and touching moment in her life.”

Many believe A~chan’s new chapter will reflect a more personal and mature energy in whatever creative direction she takes next.

🌼 A Future Filled with Warmth

A~chan ended her announcement with a note of gratitude and hope:

“I want to keep expanding the circle of support — with everyone who’s been there for me, and with my new family.”

It’s a message that perfectly captures her personality — gentle, genuine, and grounded.

As Perfume heads into their “cold sleep,” A~chan’s marriage feels like both a soft farewell and a bright beginning.

She’s not just closing a chapter in her idol career — she’s stepping into a whole new story of her own making.

And honestly? Her teenage self would be so proud.
