Chinese actor and singer Liu Yuning, known for popular dramas like A Journey of Love and The Story of Pearl Girl, is trending nationwide after opening up about a worrying situation involving persistent stalkers.

During his most recent livestream, Liu admitted that he had to buy pepper spray purely for personal safety — a detail that quickly pushed his name up the hot search list.

The tense moment unfolded when Liu was suddenly called by a stalker mid-stream

Despite some viewers encouraging him to answer out of curiosity, he stayed firm.

He said calmly, “Answering that call will only make their bad habits worse. They are not qualified to speak to me.”

What unsettled many fans wasn’t the call itself, but how resigned Liu Yuning sounded — as if this sort of interruption has sadly become normal.

“This is not the first time, nor will it be the last,” he added, showing just how long this issue has been going on behind the scenes.

Followed to Gyms, Recording Studios, and Even Hotels

Liu Yuning explained that his effort to share parts of his daily life — such as gym sessions or recording updates — has backfired.

The moment he posts anything, stalkers immediately appear at those exact spots, even when the locations are not open to the public.

He described the situation bluntly:

“Even going to the gym, I’m followed. Going for a walk, I’m followed. It feels very unpleasant.”

Two of the most worrying incidents he shared were:

  • Being followed by more than 20 people while casually shopping in Xi’an

  • A stalker impersonating hotel staff to spy on him in his room

These incidents ultimately led him to purchasing pepper spray — something he never expected to need in his daily life.

Firmly Refuses to Expose Anyone’s Phone Number

When some viewers suggested exposing the stalker’s phone number, Liu Yuning shut the idea down immediately.

He explained, “It would turn into cyberbullying of an ordinary person if the number were to be spread. The law is the last line of defence. If they break the law, then I will report them.”

For now, he’s attempting smaller protective steps — ignoring the calls, deactivating his old number, and sharing far less of his daily routine online.

He Tried Handling the Issue Calmly Before — But Was Ignored

This wasn’t the first time Liu has publicly addressed stalker behaviour.

Back in September, he described how he was being followed during non-public schedules such as private recording sessions, studio work, and casual shopping trips.

He said he once tried speaking politely to the people waiting outside, asking them to leave — only to be ignored.
It left him feeling disrespected: “I hope to maintain mutual respect with fans.”

But as this most recent livestream shows, the issue has only worsened.

Fans Say “These People Are Not True Supporters”

After the livestream moment made its way onto hot search lists on the morning of 24 November, fans filled comment sections with messages of support. Many insisted that the stalkers’ behaviour in no way represents true fandom.

Comments described the behaviour as “cheap”, “invasive”, and “beyond acceptable boundaries”, urging the public to stop romanticising extreme fan culture and instead allow Liu space to breathe.

What began as a casual livestream turned into a serious conversation about privacy, boundaries, and the challenges public figures face in maintaining normal daily routines.

Liu Yuning’s honesty has struck a chord, especially with younger viewers who are calling for better public awareness of respectful behaviour toward artists.

For now, he hopes that distance — and common sense — will help restore some peace to his daily life.
