Japanese entertainment circles are heating up after FRIDAY Magazine dropped a fresh scoop on November 26, claiming Ikematsu Sosuke and Kawai Yumi are close to getting married. The pair, who quietly built a relationship away from the spotlight, are said to be living under the same roof and taking their romance to the next stage.
The two first worked together on the 2021 film Chotto Omoidashita dake. According to media, Ikematsu Sosuke was the one who approached Kawai Yumi first, sparking a connection that gradually grew into a steady, long-term partnership.
Seen Leaving the Same High-end Tokyo Apartment
FRIDAY reports that Ikematsu Sosuke, 35, was spotted leaving a luxury designer apartment in Tokyo late November around 9:30AM, dressed fully in black and heading straight to what appeared to be a shooting location.
With a career stretching from The Last Samurai (his 2003 debut) to his upcoming role as Toyotomi Hideyoshi in NHK’s 2025 Taiga drama Toyotomi Brothers!, he remains one of the most in-demand actors of his generation.

On another day, around 11AM, Kawai Yumi, 24, stepped out of the same building, recognisable by her neat blunt fringe.
Kawai ayumi has had a breakthrough year, winning Best Actress at the 48th Japan Academy Awards — an impressive achievement at just 24.
She’s also been busy touring nationwide for the stage play Watashi o Sagasanai de, travelling across Tokyo, Osaka, Toyama, Aichi and more.
Local media notes she left the apartment with a sizeable suitcase, heading off to her next performance destination.

A Relationship Built Away From the Spotlight
Ikematsu Sosuke and Kawai Yumi’s relationship first became public in April 2023. At the time, there were rumours that Ikematsu Sosuke had told friends he hoped to marry within the year.
Although that didn’t happen, the couple remained solid.
Now, almost two and a half years later, their relationship appears stronger than ever — stable, committed, and progressing naturally despite both being extremely busy.
Industry insiders have been calling them one of the “busiest couples around”, yet they seem to have found a comfortable rhythm together.
Ikematsu Sosuke Responds Directly
When approached by media while on his way to work, Ikematsu didn’t brush off the questions. Instead, he gave a calm and sincere response while walking — comments that they describes as “honest” and “straightforward”.

With both actors at the height of their careers and already living together, it’s no surprise that talk of marriage is picking up steam.
