Playful Moment: “Jiejie, I Want to Marry You!”

The highlight of the evening came when Ding Yuxi was asked to recreate a scene from the series — the emotional moment where his character, Wei Yun, protects his sister-in-law Chu Yu, played by Victoria Song.

The host, clearly in a mischievous mood, challenged Ding to add an improvised line: “I want to marry you.”

Flustered yet game, the actor shyly delivered, “Jiejie, jiejie, I want to marry you,” before lowering his head in embarrassment.

The audience instantly erupted into cheers, while Victoria Song could barely hold back her laughter next to him.

That brief, bashful moment sent the internet spinning — with clips of the scene circulating across social media within minutes.

“Yu Yun You Chang” and the “Fishing Couple”

During the Q&A session, both stars addressed the adorable fan-made nicknames for their on-screen pairing — the most popular being “Yu Yun You Chang” (瑜韫悠长), a poetic phrase crafted from their characters’ names.

It translates roughly to “a love that’s long and enduring,” perfectly encapsulating the emotional depth fans hope to see in the series.

Another nickname taking over social media is “The Fishing Couple” (钓系夫妻), and the meaning behind it couldn’t be more fitting.

Ding Yuxi’s Wei Yun is compared to the legendary Jiang Taigong, known for fishing without bait — a metaphor for patience and waiting for fate to take its course.

Meanwhile, Victoria’s Chu Yu “fishes without realising it,” winning hearts through sincerity and natural grace. Together, they become two people who unintentionally “hook” each other — both literally and emotionally.

Natural Chemistry and Fan Love

To cap off the event, the duo playfully mimicked a “mutual fishing” scene on stage, before posing dramatically with a sword and spear — a nod to their characters’ warrior bond in the drama.

The crowd went wild, cheering as if Chu Yu and Wei Yun had just stepped out of the screen.

Though some early online comments from viewers in China, Singapore and Malaysia suggested their on-screen dynamic might feel a bit stiff due to their age gap and differing acting styles, the fan meeting proved otherwise.

Their genuine interactions and effortless teasing showed off the kind of chemistry that doesn’t need to be acted — it’s just there.
