On 12 November 2025, Chinese artist Chen Tianrun (陈天润) surprised fans with a major career announcement — the official establishment of his personal management studio and the launch of his newly verified social media account, now proudly labelled “actor.”

At the same time, Chen Tianrun also dropped another bombshell: he’s taking on his first-ever acting role, playing the character A Tai (阿泰) in the upcoming drama Wish Upon the Bright Moon (向明月许愿).

While this might sound like a simple solo career upgrade, fans were quick to notice that something seemed a little off — the new studio’s account appears to be independently operated, with no visible connection to TF Entertainment’s official system

Even more intriguing, Chen’s Weibo account reverted to his old personal handle, sparking widespread speculation that he might have quietly parted ways with TF Entertainment.

Rumours of Departure Intensify

Chen Tianrun’s latest move makes him the first artist under TF Entertainment (outside of TFBOYS) to set up a personal studio — and notably, the first from the company’s third-generation trainees to do so before even officially debuting.

This unusual step has led many fans to question his current relationship with the agency.

So far, TF Entertainment has made no official statement confirming or denying any contract termination.

Fans have also recalled earlier signs that hinted at a possible split. Back in May, Chen Tianrun took a break from public activities after posting about his college entrance exam disappointment

Since then, his Weibo had been inactive, and his absence from TF Entertainment’s latest promotional materials only added fuel to the rumours.

A Quiet Shift After TF_ING

In early September 2024, Chen Tianrun was announced as part of TF Entertainment’s music sub-label TF_ING, though he didn’t make the final debut lineup for the third-generation group “TOP.”

Despite that, his popularity and presence among fans remained steady.

Now, with the launch of his personal studio and confirmed acting role, many see this as a new chapter in his career — one that’s likely outside the TF system.

Industry watchers point out that Chen Tianrun’s move could signal a broader trend among younger idols seeking more independent management paths, especially in an era where personal branding plays as big a role as agency representation.

Fan Reactions

Fans on Weibo and Douyin have flooded the comments with mixed emotions — some cheering his independence, others worried about the risks of going solo without TF Entertainment’s backing.

One popular comment reads:

“No matter where he goes, we’ll support him. It’s brave to build something on your own.”

Another says:

“TF’s system is strict. If he’s left, it must have taken a lot of thought. Hope his acting career shines bright.”

What’s Next for Chen Tianrun?

With Wish Upon the Bright Moon expected to start filming soon, all eyes are on Chen Tianrun’s performance as A Tai — a role that could mark the start of his transition from idol trainee to full-fledged actor.
