Bao Shangen’s Studio Clears the Air After Driver Tried Selling Actor’s Personal Items

Chinese actress Bao Shangen found herself in a strange controversy this week after reports surfaced that a driver had allegedly withheld and tried to sell her personal belongings online.

On October 31, 2025, her studio stepped forward with a detailed clarification, firmly denying any rumours of the team discarding fan gifts or mishandling personal items.

In their official statement, the studio explained that all the items involved were privately owned, used long-term, and not abandoned or treated carelessly.

They also made it clear that “at no point did the team bully, threaten, or pressure the driver,” adding that legal action will be taken against anyone spreading false claims.

What Actually Happened to Bao Shangen and Team

The situation began when Bao Shangen’s team moved from Weihai to Harbin for filming.

During the move, a commercial vehicle driver reportedly kept several of Bao’s belongings — including her clothing, filming props, and small fan gifts — and later posted them online in an attempt to sell them.

When the team discovered this, they immediately contacted the driver and launched an internal investigation.

The driver later admitted to withholding and trying to sell the items without permission.

He has since written a handwritten apology, returned the belongings, and offered financial compensation for the trouble.

The items in question included a waist cushion Bao used during shoots, along with beauty products, keychains, socks, and other personal effects

The studio stressed that none of these were “discarded trash” and that Bao has always cherished fan-made items like letters and crafts, never throwing them away.

No Police Drama, Just Accountability

After communication between both sides, the studio accepted the driver’s apology and decided not to involve the police, as all items were recovered and verified.

However, they confirmed the driver would never be hired again.

Bao’s team also admitted that the incident happened partly due to a lapse in luggage management, which they take full responsibility for.

They promised to improve internal handling procedures to avoid similar mishaps in the future.

Despite the resolution, the studio expressed understanding for fans’ concerns and emotions, urging everyone to stay calm and wait for verified information

They thanked supporters who continue to trust and stand by Bao during the misunderstanding.

Legal Warning and Lessons Learned

The statement closed with a firm warning: any individuals or accounts spreading false claims or defamatory content about Bao Shangen will face legal consequences

The team also highlighted how the situation reflects wider issues around celebrity privacy, staff ethics, and online speculation.

The incident, while now resolved, sparked public discussions about how easily private items can be misused during production moves — and how quickly rumours spread before the facts are clear.

Bao Shangen is currently starring in the period fantasy drama Whispers of Fate (水龙吟), playing Zhong Chunji, a strong-willed disciple with an unyielding spirit and a deep bond with the main character.

Despite the chaos offscreen, fans are showing continued support for her acting journey — proving that professionalism and transparency still win hearts in the long run.
