Taiwan Singer Aska Yang Under Fire as Locals Accuse Him of Being a “Problem Neighbour” After Becoming Community Chair

Taiwanese singer Aska Yang Tsong Wei has found himself in a rather awkward spotlight—this time not on stage, but inside his own residential block. After returning to Taiwan to recover from injuries and unexpectedly becoming the chair of his community, Yang has sparked a wave of complaints from residents who claim his household has been nothing short of a daily headache.

According to multiple Taiwanese reports, several neighbours allege that Yang and his family have long behaved like “problem neighbours”, accusing them of hogging shared spaces, cluttering common areas with personal items, and generally ignoring community rules.

While none of the issues are huge on their own, residents insist the constant stream of minor nuisances has worn everyone down.

One resident claimed the Aska Yang household frequently left items in the stairwell—an area that legally must remain clear—despite reminders put up by the building.

Others were unhappy about reports of careless behaviour in public areas, which raised immediate concerns about hygiene and respect for shared property.

Some neighbours also pointed out that family members were often seen wandering into vehicle lanes, which they deemed unsafe and against community guidelines.

Attempts by residents to address these concerns directly reportedly didn’t go well, with Aska Yang said to have reacted sharply when approached.

For a while, most neighbours chose to stay quiet, hoping the situation would settle naturally.

But tensions surged the moment Aska Yang stepped into the role of community chair.

Before his term even began, Aska Yang allegedly contacted the building’s security company on his own and told them the contract wouldn’t be renewed—without consulting other residents.

His reasoning? He claimed the previous security team did not care enough for elderly residents.

This sudden move stunned many households, who thought the existing arrangement worked perfectly well.

The new security company brought in after Yang’s decision hasn’t been warmly received either.

Residents complained about slow response times and said the new team refused to handle simple tasks like collecting registered mail.

Aska Yang Faces Backlash Over “Problem Neighbour” Claims

Things escalated even further during the handover meeting between Aska Yang and the former community chair.

The two reportedly got into a heated argument, with Yang briefly suggesting he might quit the role altogether.

In the end, he still took on the position, but since then, the situation hasn’t exactly calmed down.

What began as a community adjustment has now snowballed into a full-blown neighbourhood drama, with residents openly challenging whether Aska Yang’s behaviour matches the responsibility of his title.

For now, the singer hasn’t issued a public response—but it seems this time, the spotlight at home might be far harsher than the one on stage.
