The cloud surrounding actor Yu Menglong’s death in September 2025 refuses to clear. Nearly a month after his fatal fall, the internet has reignited debates and wild theories – with one name resurfacing again and again: Kan Xin, the woman many believe had a closer connection to the late actor than fans realised.
New wave of speculation
Recent online discussions have revisited the mysterious circumstances around Alan Yu’s final days, with netizens suggesting that Kan Xin – rumoured to be his girlfriend – might have played a bigger role than previously assumed.
Some speculate she was “planted” near him, with whispers that she may have leaked a USB drive allegedly linked to money laundering evidence.
The idea fits into a web of theories that already name between six and seventeen possible suspects in the case.
Who is Kan Xin?
Kan Xin hails from Xianning, Hubei, and graduated from the Tianjin Conservatory of Music before stepping into the entertainment world under Beijing Wannian Jinhe Cultural Agency.
Her background isn’t purely artistic either — records show she owns 8.4% shares in the Kevin Police Technology Research Institute (Beijing), valued at five million yuan.
Her acting career began to rise after director Cheng Qingsong cast her in Liulang Wen Ying, which earned her a Golden Rooster Best Actress nomination and helped her gain a foothold in the film industry.
Romance rumours and industry ties
According to YouTuber Li Muyang and several paparazzi sightings from 2021, Yu Menglong and Kan Xin were spotted on multiple casual dates.
In one set of photos, the two appeared warm and affectionate — she leaned into his embrace while he stroked her hair — fuelling talk of a secret relationship.
Neither ever confirmed it publicly.
Online investigators have since pointed out that Kan Xin often appeared at the same industry gatherings as Cheng Qingsong, Xin Qi, Tian Hairong, and Fang Li — several of whom have also been linked to side chatter about the case.
Interestingly, Cheng Qingsong himself once posted online about attending an event with Kan Xin on the same day as Yu’s tragic incident, though the post vanished soon after.
Old comments resurface
Fuel was added to the fire when netizens dug up an older interview with actress Song Yiren, who claimed that “a girlfriend” was once placed near Yu Menglong to keep tabs on him — and later sent abroad with hush money.
This cryptic statement, though never tied to Kan Xin directly, has been reshared widely, reigniting talk about her supposed role.

Despite the swirl of theories, no official confirmation has surfaced linking Kan Xin — or anyone else — to Yu Menglong’s death.
