Sun Derong Raises Questions Over Yu Menglong’s “Unclear” Passing |
The mystery around Chinese actor Yu Menglong’s passing has taken another dramatic turn after his former mentor and agent, Sun Derong, stepped forward with startling claims that the 37-year-old’s death may be tied to agency secrets.
Alan Yu (Yu Menglong) known for his gentle image and steady presence in drama land, was reported dead on 11 September after falling from a building.
His mother later described the incident as a “drinking accident,” but the official version hasn’t calmed the storm online.
Conspiracy theories continue to swirl on Chinese social media, with fans and industry watchers convinced there’s more to the story.
On 29 September, Sun Derong organised a memorial and “truth-seeking” briefing at the Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Temple in Xinzhuang.

Sun Derong Vows to Seek Justice for Yu Menglong |
The skies opened with a light drizzle, which Sun Derong described as a sign. “I can feel that Yu knows I came here to seek justice for him. Even the rain has come down with me,” he sighed.
Speaking to attendees, Sun Derong claimed there were “many obstacles” preventing the truth from surfacing.
“Yu Menglong’s case seems to be blocked at every turn, leaving us with too many mysteries,” he said.
He went further, suggesting that Yu Menglong may have stumbled upon unclear financial dealings inside his studio and tried to gather evidence — a move that could have led to his untimely end.
Visibly shaken, Sun Derong described Yu Menglong as “an angel of truth, goodness, and beauty” and questioned why such a talented artist left in such an “unclear way.”
He expressed dismay over the lack of transparency: “Not a single frame of his death was seen, and just five days later he was hastily cremated. What is being hidden?”
In an emotional revelation, Sun Derong shared that Alan Yu had appeared in his dreams, allowing him to sleep peacefully for the first time in years.
“I think he wants me to do something for him,” he explained.
Sun Derong also played an audio recording of Yu Menglong calling him “Dad,” vowing to carry out every unfinished task his protégé might have left behind.

Sun Derong admitted he once trusted Tianyu Media, Alan Yu’s agency, especially after seeing them closely while living in the same building as the company’s top brass.
But in hindsight, he feels guilty: “If I hadn’t chosen him, if I hadn’t trained him for a year and a half, or if he hadn’t joined Super Boy, maybe he would still be alive. I feel so guilty.”
Determined to keep Alan Yu’s memory alive, Sun Derong revealed plans to organise a larger Dharma Assembly in the future, inviting fans to take part so Yu Menglong’s love and legacy can continue to shine.
For now, questions remain unanswered, and Sun Derong’s emotional appeal has only fuelled public speculation that Yu Menglong’s death may have been more than just an accident.
