Fans of EXO are feeling all kinds of emotions right now after the group’s official accounts on Weibo, Instagram, and Twitter dropped a surprise backstage photo of Sehun and Lay Zhang Yixing together at Lay Zhang’s solo concert in Beijing.

The picture, shared on 6 October, shows the two standing side by side, smiling warmly — a sight fans haven’t seen in years.

The caption, “Lay (hyeong), Sehun and WeAreOne EXO,” was simple but powerful enough to send the fandom straight back to 2012 feels.

The concert took place at Beijing’s National Stadium as part of Lay’s “GRANDLINE 5: The Monkey King Rocks the Heavenly Palace” tour.

Sehun, dressed in a sleek purple jacket — a nod to Lay’s signature fan colour — was spotted in the VIP section cheering for his bandmate.

It also marked Sehun’s first overseas appearance since completing his mandatory military service in September.

During the show, Lay performed EXO’s emotional ballad “Miracles in December” and told the crowd, “There’s a special guest here tonight. This song is for him.” Cue the collective fan tears.

After the concert, local reports said Sehun and Lay went out for dinner to celebrate Lay’s birthday, making the reunion even more heartwarming.

Long-time fans would remember that back in 2019, Lay had to delete a similar post with Sehun due to intense fan disputes between sub-fandoms.

This time, however, the decision to post the photo on official EXO channels feels symbolic — like a quiet statement of unity and mutual respect.

It’s not just a throwback; it’s a public affirmation that EXO’s bond still stands strong even after years of solo activities, enlistments, and industry changes.

After the concert, Sehun was seen at Beijing Capital Airport returning to Korea, and the atmosphere was absolutely wild.

Thousands of fans turned up to send him off, waving banners and shouting his name.

His presence alone dominated Weibo trends for hours. Hashtags like #SehunInBeijing and #SehunLayReunion climbed the hot search, but the one that caught everyone’s eye was #吴世勋婉拒浪味仙 (“Oh Sehun politely declined Lonely God”).

That came from a viral video where a fan tried to gift him his old favourite Chinese snack, Lonely God chips — but Sehun, ever the polite king, smiled and gently refused.

The small, respectful gesture got over 87 million views and 1.1 million searches in a few hours, with fans praising his maturity and warmth.

From a nostalgic concert moment to a viral airport clip, Sehun’s brief visit to Beijing reminded everyone just how deep EXO’s roots run in both China and Korea.

Twelve years on, “WeAreOne EXO” still hits different — and this reunion proved that some bonds never really fade, no matter the distance or time apart.
