“We are pleased to announce that our talent, Azusa Sekine, has gotten married and is expecting a child. We deeply appreciate the kind support from fans and related parties, and hope everyone continues to watch over her warmly.”
Sekine’s journey in the J-pop scene began back in 2004, when she joined Hello! Pro Egg (the trainee programme under Hello! Project) at just 10 years old.
She later debuted as one of the founding members of Up Up Girls (Kakko Kari) in 2011, a group known for its high-energy performances and independent spirit.
In 2021, Sekine stepped up as group leader, guiding the team through multiple releases and tours.
After nearly twelve years with the group, she graduated in December 2023, following a short health-related hiatus.

Since then, she’s been active as a solo performer, appearing in stage productions, live events, and continuing her music career under YU-M Entertainment.
Fans across social media flooded her announcement with messages of congratulations, expressing joy for the long-time idol’s next chapter.
Many noted how Sekine, who grew up in front of fans’ eyes since her Hello! Pro days, has now entered a beautiful new phase of her life.
While details about her partner and due date remain private, Azusa reassured supporters that she’ll continue to pursue her work with the same dedication she’s always shown.
From her early idol training days to leading one of Japan’s most resilient girl groups, Azusa Sekine’s career has been one of consistency and quiet determination.
Her latest announcement feels less like a goodbye and more like a natural continuation — a new stage in both her personal and artistic journey.
