Christine Fan Denies Bizarre Claim She Wore Necklace Containing Barbie Hsu’s Ashes
Fan Fan Clears the Air: “It’s Just a Necklace, Not What You Think!”

Taiwanese singer Christine Fan, better known as Fan Fan Weiqi, has officially hit back at an online rumour claiming that the necklace she wore during a recent performance contained the ashes of her late friend, Barbie Hsu.

The story started gaining traction after Fan Fan’s appearance at a show in China, where she performed her hit song “Can We Not Be Brave” — widely seen as a tribute to Barbie.

During the emotional moment, a close-up of her black heart-shaped necklace was shown on the big screen, and that’s when online chatter went wild.

Some netizens began speculating that it wasn’t just an accessory, but a “cremation necklace” supposedly containing Barbie’s ashes — a rumour that quickly snowballed across social platforms.

Legal Team Steps In

In response, Christine’s legal representatives swiftly released a formal statement rejecting the claim as baseless and defamatory.

They stated that the reports were “false and made without verification,” stressing that such rumours had “seriously damaged the singer’s reputation.”

The statement further demanded those responsible — including online platforms, content creators, and individuals who spread or commented on the rumour — to delete the false information, issue public apologies, and compensate for damages.

Christine’s Calm Response

After the controversy broke out, Christine didn’t shy away from the spotlight.

Instead, she shared new photos on social media wearing the exact same “black heart” necklace, proving it was simply a piece of decorative jewellery and nothing more.

“Really cherishing every performance lately! So thankful,” she captioned warmly, alongside several stage snapshots that subtly addressed the situation without direct confrontation.

Fans Rally Behind Her

Many fans have flooded her comments section with support, praising her calm attitude and encouraging her to focus on the music.

Comments like “You did great!” and “Your new look is beautiful!” dominated her feed, as others urged her to ignore the noise and keep shining on stage.

In short: it was just a necklace, not a relic — and Fan Fan handled the whole drama with grace, clarity, and a touch of quiet humour.
