Taiwan’s AKB48 Team TP has just dropped the big news — eight bright new faces have officially joined as part of their 6th Generation research students (kenkyuusei).

The announcement came during the group’s live stage performance earlier today, and fans were absolutely buzzing with excitement.

This fresh batch of trainees looks set to shake things up in the group, bringing a new mix of personalities, talent, and age diversity. But the name on everyone’s lips?

Liu Yan Ning, or Ningning, who’s only 13 years old — officially becoming the youngest member in AKB48 Team TP’s history!

She even beats the previous record held by Xiao Yu from the 3rd generation, who was already considered a baby of the group at the time.

Fans couldn’t quite believe it when they realised Ningning was born in 2011 — many calling it “mad but adorable” that someone that young is stepping into the idol spotlight.

Still, her confidence on stage has already caught attention, and supporters reckon she could be a big name in a few years.

💬 Fans’ First Reactions

Social media’s been buzzing since the reveal.

Many fans expressed excitement about the younger generation joining the family, saying it feels like “a new era” for the Taiwanese sister group.

Some were a bit shocked by how young the two 2011-born members are, but most agreed it’s refreshing to see new talent being nurtured early on.

🚀 What’s Next

The eight new members will start their training as kenkyuusei before making their proper debut on the main stage — though judging by fan hype, it might not be long before we see them performing alongside senior members.

As one fan put it online: “This gen’s got everything — visuals, vibes, and pure energy. Team TP’s future looks proper bright.”
