Asian Games 2026: SKE48 and Miyu Take on Official Supporter Roles
Idol Group SKE48 and Singer Miyu Appointed Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Supporters

The countdown to the 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) just got a local boost. Idol group SKE48, hailing from Nagoya’s Sakae district, and singer-songwriter Miyu, based in Aichi, have officially been named “Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Supporters” for both the Asian Games and Asian Para Games.

The appointment was confirmed on 12 September by the Organising Committee of the Asian Games and Asian Para Games Aichi-Nagoya.

When and Where

  • Asian Games 2026: 19 September – 4 October, 2026

  • Asian Para Games 2026: 18 – 24 October, 2026

  • Host city: Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan

The Asian Games will feature 41 sports, from swimming and athletics to baseball/softball, while the Asian Para Games will bring 19 disciplines, including boccia and wheelchair rugby.

Local Stars at the Forefront

As official supporters, SKE48 and Miyu won’t just lend their names—they’ll be actively involved in promoting the Games.

From social media campaigns and day-to-day activities to appearances in official publications, their role is to build hype and rally public enthusiasm in the lead-up to the events.

SKE48’s Excitement

Local Stars SKE48 and Miyu to Cheer On Athletes at Aichi-Nagoya 2026

Group captain Chikako Matsumoto shared her joy:

It’s a huge honour that such a historic event is being held here in our home of Aichi and Nagoya. We want to share the emotions that sport brings and cheer together with everyone!

Fellow member Miki Itō, who famously completed the Tokyo Marathon in under four and a half hours last year and even topped the “SASUKE Idol Qualifiers 2024,” also commented:

I’m thrilled to be part of this as a supporter. I love not only playing but also watching sports, so I’ll be giving my full energy to cheer on the athletes and also showcase the charm of Aichi to everyone.”

Miyu’s Role

Singer-songwriter Miyu, known for captivating Gen Z through TikTok live sessions with her clear, heartfelt vocals, is equally enthusiastic:

I’m really looking forward to supporting such a major event being held in my hometown of Aichi and Nagoya.”

Her rising popularity across TV, radio, and live stages has made her one of the region’s fastest-growing stars, making her an ideal choice to connect with younger audiences.

By bringing together one of Nagoya’s most famous idol groups and a homegrown singer with strong youth appeal, organisers are betting on a cultural-meets-sporting synergy to keep the spotlight firmly on Aichi-Nagoya in 2026.

The Games aren’t just about competition—they’re about community spirit, pride, and celebration, and SKE48 and Miyu are now front and centre of that mission.
