Thai Rock Icon Pu Pongsit Sparks Debate After Calling Out US Flag at Concert
“Wave Our Flag Instead”: Pu Pongsit Calls Out US Flag at Gig

Legendary Thai rocker Pu Pongsit Kampee has gone viral after a fiery exchange with a concertgoer during his Kid Tueng show.

The drama kicked off while Pu was performing his classic track Chao Nai

Out of nowhere, a fan in the crowd unfurled a large U.S flag and waved it high above the audience.

The move immediately caught Pu Pongsit’s attention — and not in a good way.

The singer halted the performance, stared at the fan and bluntly asked:

“What flag is that? America or Thailand? You think that’s cool?”

Pu didn’t stop there.

He followed up with:

“We also have our own flag. Why don’t you wave that instead? Disgusting.”

He then ordered the fan to lower the flag before continuing the set.

The tense moment quickly spread across social media, sparking heated debates among netizens.

Pu Pongsit Stops Show Over USA Flag Incident

Many applauded Pu Pongsit’s stance, saying he was standing up for national pride and reminding fans that Thai culture deserves the spotlight at Thai concerts.

But others pointed out the irony — Pu Pongsit himself was on stage with a guitar and outfit reportedly made in America.

Critics argued that his outburst was unnecessary and that waving a foreign flag shouldn’t be taken as an insult.

Another group of fans took a middle-ground view, saying that while waving a US flag at a Thai gig wasn’t exactly respectful, it also wasn’t a serious offence.

After the awkward pause, Pu Pongsit regained his composure and rolled into another fan-favourite, Num Noi, with the crowd cheering even louder.

What could have been a full meltdown turned into a rallying moment for his loyal followers — but the internet is still divided.
