Zhang Zhixi Joins Zhao Lusi in Criticising Galaxy Cool Entertainment

Galaxy Cool Entertainment Under Fire Again—Zhang Zhixi Adds to Zhao Lusi Fallout
Two Actresses, One Company: Galaxy Cool Faces Fresh Allegations From Zhang Zhixi

Looks like Galaxy Cool Entertainment just can’t catch a break this summer. First, it was Zhao Lusi making headlines after announcing on a livestream that she was done with her agency. Now, actress-producer Zhang Zhixi has stepped into the ring—this time with complaints linked to the upcoming fantasy romance drama When Destiny Brings the Demon (献鱼).

The situation began to snowball earlier this month when Zhao Lusi, known for her bubbly rom-com roles, dropped a surprise bomb during a livestream. Without going into fine details, she hinted at financial irregularities and breaches of contract by her agency, Galaxy Cool Entertainment. She didn’t mince words either, bluntly declaring, “I quit!” That moment alone set social media buzzing, sparking a wave of discussions about the company’s artist management practices.

Fast forward to this week, and Zhang Zhixi—who wears two hats as both an actress and founder of Bentu Pictures—has added her own chapter to the unfolding saga.

According to Zhang Zhixi, Bentu Pictures was originally in talks to cast Zhao Lusi as the female lead for When Destiny Brings the Demon. While the casting didn’t pan out, the real clash began once the drama’s promotional materials rolled out.

After Zhao Lusi, Zhang Zhixi Calls Out Galaxy Cool Entertainment Over Drama Credit Dispute

Zhang Zhixi claimed that her company had a contractual agreement to be credited as “producer”, but when the official posters dropped, Bentu’s credit had mysteriously been changed to “co-producer”. “They changed our title from ‘producer’ to ‘co-producer’ on the poster. Then they even pushed the blame onto the platform. Isn’t that inappropriate? Please respect the contract and fix this,” Zhang Zhixi wrote in a social media post that quickly went viral.

Galaxy Cool Entertainment’s legal team didn’t waste time. On 6 August, they issued a lawyer’s letter to Zhang Zhixi accusing her of spreading false and misleading information. They demanded she stop making public statements and take steps to “repair the damage” or be prepared to face legal consequences.

But Zhang Zhixi wasn’t backing down. In a sharp response, she insisted the contract was crystal clear and accused the company of “pretending not to see” the terms. Her parting shot? “Fine—see you in court!”

Galaxy Cool Entertainment Row Deepens as Zhang Zhixi Backs Zhao Lusi in Criticising Agency’s “Incompetence”

Galaxy Cool later released a statement of their own, attempting to set the record straight. They asserted that their cooperation with Bentu Pictures was limited to acquiring the copyright for the novel on which the drama is based, and that all promotional and distribution rights rested solely with them. From their perspective, the credit change was within their rights.

With two high-profile actresses—Zhao Lusi and Zhang Zhixi—now publicly challenging Galaxy Cool in the same month, the company is facing growing industry scrutiny. And while When Destiny Brings the Demon hasn’t even premiered yet, the off-screen storm is threatening to overshadow the on-screen magic.

One thing’s for sure: by the time the drama drops, viewers may be just as curious about the behind-the-scenes legal drama as they are about the actual plot.
