As a result, his brand event in Changsha had to be cancelled, leaving fans disappointed and the event organisers scrambling to make last-minute adjustments.
While Zhang Linghe’s safety is the top priority, the incident highlights the increasing challenges faced by celebrities as they navigate public and private spaces.
According to Sina, a netizen posted that actor Zhang Linghe would be attending a brand event at Xingcheng Tiandi in Changsha, Hunan. Many fans expressed plans to visit the shopping mall, with some even planning to arrive at 8 or 9 a.m. to wait, and some fans even began queuing overnight.
However, on the day of the event, a large number of fans posted online saying the event was cancelled, and Zhang Linghe would not appear at the mall. Many fans were dissatisfied with the cancellation, with one saying they had queued for seven hours in the heat.

A journalist from a media outlet contacted the mall staff, who confirmed the event was indeed cancelled. The staff explained that the cancellation occurred around 12 p.m. due to the large number of people present, posing a safety risk.
The staff also mentioned that similar situations had occurred before at the mall, where celebrity events were cancelled. While the mall usually receives notice of such cancellations in advance, its main responsibility is to ensure safety measures are in place.
Generally speaking, the cancellation of these types of celebrity events is related to the brand's arrangements and is not the mall’s responsibility. Additionally, media reports suggest that a female fan attempted to force her way into the first floor of the mall but was escorted out by three security guards.
Fans have expressed their concern over the situation, with many questioning the need for stronger measures to protect public figures from such invasive behaviour.
