Esther Yu Shuxin Faces Old Bullying Allegations and Fresh Cyberbullying Storm
Colleagues Call Yu Shuxin “Professional and Sweet” Amidst Online Attacks

Mainland Chinese actress Yu Shuxin (Esther Yu) has found herself in the eye of yet another storm. The star, who rose to A-list fame after Love Between Fairy and Devil with Dylan Wang Hedi, has been accused of bullying and “diva behaviour” by the so-called actress (a 6th-tier actress at best) named Zhang Haoyue, who claims the incidents date back nine years.

The Esther Yu Shuxin Old Rumours Resurface

According to Zhang Haoyue, during filming of the variety show Grade One years ago, Yu Shuxin allegedly formed cliques, verbally isolated her, and even mocked her appearance by calling her a “spider spirit” in public.

The talentless actress Zhang Haoyue went as far as to say the experience left her with anxiety, pushing her to leave the industry altogether.

The accusations sparked renewed chatter about Yu Shuxin’s so-called “diva” habits, including whispers that she once abandoned set after 20 minutes and left her stand-in to work under the scorching sun. Netizens revived the old “lazy actress, mistreating staff” narrative.

  • A lighting director from one of her past productions flatly denied the diva claims, saying she shot tirelessly in heat with no complaints.

  • A stand-in actor who’s collaborated with Yu Shuxin multiple times wrote a long post defending her professionalism, stating she always memorises lines, never stumbles in delivery, and is known to buy late-night coffee for crews or even hand out red packets at New Year.

  • The Beijing Spring Festival Gala team also vouched that Esther Yu behaved with full energy on set — “like a walking power bank.”

Earlier this year, she had also been dragged into a mini controversy after tossing a drink over a director’s head during a wrap party.

Some critics called it “disrespectful,” but the director himself clarified it was just water, meant as a playful blessing ritual.

Esther Yu Dragged Into Rumours Again

Weibo Trending Chaos: Fan Wars & Cyberbullying

More than the old rumours, it’s the recent Weibo trending chaos that has fans on edge.

Esther Yu has been the target of a sustained cyberbullying campaign led by a large gossip/fan group known as Domestic Entertainment Omega

They’ve been accused of spreading edited clips showing Yu Shuxin “ignoring fans,” questioning her family background, and painting her as rude to brands and staff.

  • Her Weibo and Xiaohongshu comment sections were bombarded with hate.

  • Her fandom clashed with Zhao Lusi’s fans, after claims surfaced that the group behind the smear campaign was made up of Lusi’s supporters. Lusi herself had mentioned the group in a livestream, fuelling more speculation.

  • Staff from her Samsonite shoot even defended her, saying she filmed under the blazing sun for hours without a single complaint — trending the hashtag #YuShuxinShootOverAndOverAgain.

  • Her Road to Success co-star Chen Jingke was dragged into the mess, with his livestream chat hijacked by trolls mentioning Yu Shuxin’s name.

  • Even influencers who support Yu Shuxin reported their livestreams getting spammed with anti-Yu comments.

The online uproar has left many netizens puzzled: What exactly did Yu Shuxin do to deserve this level of hate?

Esther Yu Shuxin Faces Old Rumours

What’s happening to Esther Yu highlights a common trend in C-ent: rising stars not only attract fans, but also intense fan-wars, coordinated smear campaigns, and relentless online hate.

While rumours are nothing new, the scale of coordinated attacks in Yu Shuxin’s case has sparked concern over how toxic fan culture has become.

Despite the noise, her colleagues continue to insist she’s hardworking, kind, and nothing like the persona painted by detractors. Whether this latest storm will pass quickly or linger on Weibo remains to be seen.
