With the premiere date locked for August 29, fantasy romance drama Twelve Letters is turning up the heat with another sneak peek of its leads Zhou Yiran and Wang Yinglu.

The new look gives fans a taste of the drama’s signature blend of time-twisting mystery, heartfelt connections, and a love story that spans two generations.

Unlike your usual campus romance, Twelve Letters throws viewers into a world where a single envelope links 1991 and 2026 through a mysterious letterbox.

As twelve letters travel back and forth, the destinies of Tang Yixun (Zhou Yiran) and Ye Haitang (Wang Yinglu) intertwine not just with each other, but with the unresolved past of their parents.

What starts as a tender coming-of-age tale soon unravels into a story of love, friendship, family ties – and a secret buried for 35 years.

Leading man Zhou Yiran, already dubbed a “campus drama prince” by fans, breaks out of his usual boy-next-door roles to play Tang Yixun, a small-town teen shouldering more than his fair share of burdens.

Opposite him, Wang Yinglu (who made waves as Feng Baobao in Psychic Princess) takes on Ye Haitang, a girl scarred yet unbroken, chasing dreams despite a tough upbringing.

Together, their chemistry leans on the theme of mutual salvation – the idea that even in the darkest moments, two people can be each other’s light.

Supporting roles come courtesy of Ren Youlun as Shen Cheng and Zheng He Huizi as Yu Nian, adding layers of friendship and tension as the story unfolds.

Unlike many dramas adapted from novels, Twelve Letters is built on a completely original script, crafted by the same creative team behind hit thriller The Bad Kids

It promises a mix of mystery, raw emotion, and fantasy elements – but without losing its human core. Expect tear-jerking exchanges, heartfelt confessions, and plenty of scenes that will get social media buzzing.
