| Yes Please Production Pulls Plug on ‘Just Nearby The Series’ After ‘Your Sky’ Similarities Spark Uproar |
Thai production company Yes Please Production has officially cancelled its upcoming Girls’ Love (GL) drama, Just Nearby The Series, following widespread backlash over alleged plagiarism.
The cancellation was announced via the company’s official social media platforms on Tuesday, just days after the show’s trailer premiered online.
While initial buzz around the project was positive, it quickly turned controversial as viewers began pointing out striking similarities between Just Nearby and an existing Boys’ Love (BL) series titled Your Sky.

The series was meant to follow the story of Mueanfah, a quiet and introverted university student, and Klaijai, the cheerful daughter of a family-run soy milk shop.
A chance encounter—quite literally, involving spilled soy milk—was set to ignite their daily meetings and budding connection. The narrative hinted at a deeper backstory, revealing that their paths had crossed even before that fateful day on campus.

However, fans quickly noticed that both the storyline and the character dynamics bore an uncanny resemblance to Your Sky. After the trailer was released last Sunday, concerns escalated. Some viewers reportedly contacted the company behind Your Sky, pointing out overlaps in scene composition, dialogue style, and even character names.

Initially, Yes Please Production responded with a public statement on Monday, aiming to clarify the matter. The company explained that Just Nearby The Series was a student-led debut project, and that any likeness to other works was purely coincidental.
They also elaborated on their creative process, character development, and filming locations, hoping to dispel growing concerns.
But by Tuesday, the company issued a follow-up statement confirming that production had been shut down entirely.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported the project and shared their feedback,” the statement read. “While this was a passion project by emerging creators, we recognise the impact that this situation has had and have decided to discontinue the series.”
They also mentioned that some of the content already filmed may be repurposed into different formats, although no further details were shared. No announcement has been made yet regarding any replacement projects.

Cast and Crew Left in Limbo
The now-shelved series had cast Mandy Amanda Sparey as Mueanfah and Jenine Dhammamata Naowapornphan as Klaijai. The two leads had already begun promoting the project online, and anticipation within the Thai GL fan community had been steadily building.
While Just Nearby The Series will not see a full release, the incident has reignited ongoing discussions in Thai entertainment circles around originality, ethical storytelling, and creative oversight in student and indie-led productions.
