| Steve Ma and Jane Go Public with Their Romance |
Taiwanese actor Steve Ma Jingtao, once hailed as the “Qiong Yao drama leading man” of the 1990s, is back in the headlines—not for a new role, but for his blossoming romance with a woman 26 years his junior.
At 63, Steve Ma has confirmed his relationship with Jane, a 37-year-old financial investment professional from Zhejiang. The pair were recently spotted in matching black outfits at Nicholas Tse’s concert, a date Jane proudly shared on her Weibo with the caption:
“Going on a date and meeting the person who used to live in our earphones back then.”
In a livestream, Jane revealed that she and Steve Ma first crossed paths at a friend’s gathering. “No one actively pursued the other. We just got together naturally,” she explained, adding that she has long admired Ma’s acting journey.

Age Gap? No Issue for Jane
While the age gap of 26 years has sparked chatter—especially since Ma Jingtao is the same age as Jane’s father—she brushed off the remarks with ease.
“It’s normal. I don’t care at all,” she said, emphasising that her parents are supportive of the relationship. The couple, she added, are in no rush to marry, preferring to “let nature take its course.”
Speculation about the romance actually dates back to 2023, when Jane posted an affectionate photo of herself hugging Ma while holding a large bouquet of roses. In that same post, she declared: “Idol turned lover! He’s been divorced twice, I don’t mind. They didn’t know how to cherish you, but I do.”
Jane’s confidence in standing by Steve Ma is also backed by her own career and connections—she’s shared photos with big international names such as MicroStrategy founder Michael J. Saylor and billionaire investor David Tepper.

Steve Ma’s personal life has had its share of ups and downs. He was married to actress Tang Yun from 1990 to 1993, with whom he shares a daughter, before marrying actress Wu Jiani in 2007, with whom he has two sons. That marriage ended in 2017.
But his legacy in television is unshakable. Since debuting in 1984, Ma became a household name thanks to roles in classics like The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (1994), Legend of the Eight Immortals (1999), and The Legendary Swordsman (2000). In the 1990s, dramas like Green Green Grass by the River and Plum Blossom Trilogy cemented his heartthrob status across Asia.
Even today, the once “Qiong Yao drama god” still carries that magnetic charm—something Jane openly admits drew her closer.
With both of them choosing to focus on enjoying the present, Steve Ma and Jane’s romance seems to be moving at a steady, natural pace. And while online debates continue, the couple appear unfazed, determined to write their own chapter, free of outside noise.
