Mario Ho, son of the late Stanley Ho, has bagged another record for himself — this time in the world of basketball. The 30-year-old entrepreneur has just become the youngest shareholder and board member of the Boston Celtics, one of the NBA’s most iconic franchises.

For Mario Ho, this isn’t just a business move, it’s a lifelong dream fulfilled.

He studied at MIT for his undergraduate degree and has been a Celtics die-hard since his uni days, with stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown at the top of his favourites list.

Mario Ho Makes History as Youngest Co-Owner of NBA’s Boston Celtics

Sharing the news online, Mario Ho couldn’t hold back his excitement:

“I’m proud to announce I’ve become a co-owner and board member of the Boston Celtics! Thank you Bill, for letting me join the consortium and this record-breaking deal. As a lifelong Celtics fan, I’ll continue to give my everything to the organisation; the responsibilities officially start now! Tears of joy cloud my eyes as I write all this, this is undoubtedly one of the happiest moments of my life...”

A US$6.1 Billion Takeover

Back in March, the Celtics were snapped up for a jaw-dropping US$6.1 billion by a consortium led by Symphony Tech Group co-founder William Chisholm.

Mario Ho joined the group after completing an extensive vetting process, which included a background check and sign-offs from multiple representatives.

Now part of the ownership circle, Mario says he wants to help the team expand its presence in China, including hosting competitions, fan events, and cultural exchange programmes between China and the US.

From E-Sports to the NBA

This isn’t Mario Ho’s first trailblazing move.

Mario Ho Becomes Youngest Shareholder in Celtics’ US$6.1 Billion Takeover

Last year, his e-sports company NIP Group successfully went public in the US, making him the youngest founder of a NASDAQ-listed company in Asia. His transition from gaming to basketball ownership adds yet another feather to his cap.

For the Celtics, Mario’s arrival comes at an exciting time.

The franchise, which boasts 17 NBA championships, is not only chasing glory on the court but also looking to grow its global brand. Having the youngest team co-owner on board — and one with strong ties in Asia — could prove to be a major boost.
