Japanese actor Machida Keita is making his next move international—this time, to South Korea. On 5 August, it was officially announced that Machida has signed an exclusive contract with Korean talent agency HB Entertainment for his activities in South Korea.
What’s more—his wife, actress Hyunri, is also managed by HB Entertainment. Talk about a power couple under one roof!
HB Entertainment, which is home to big names like Lee Sun-min, Ahn Jae-hyun, Jo Byung-gyu, and Joo Sang-wook, shared a warm welcome on their official socials:
“Please give lots of love and support to our new member, actor Machida Keita.”
Known for blending local stardom with a growing global profile, HB isn’t just a Korean heavyweight—it’s a gateway to broader Asia-wide and international exposure.
Machida Keita’s new signing hints that we might just be seeing more of him in K-dramas, joint productions, or even crossover projects soon.

Machida Keita first stepped into the spotlight in 2010 with the stage production Rokudenashi BLUES. Over the years, he’s built a versatile portfolio across film and TV, gaining international attention in Netflix’s Alice in Borderland and the drama Cherry Magic (30-sai made Dotei da to Mahō Tsukai ni Nareru rashii).
Fans were especially moved by his delicate performance in Your Eyes Tell—a Japanese remake of the Korean film Always. And in 2022, Machida and Hyunri tied the knot, much to the delight of fans who had followed their lowkey but heartwarming love story.
🎬 What’s Next for Machida?
He’s not slowing down anytime soon. His latest Netflix project Glass Heart, where he plays the lead, just dropped globally on 31 July. And coming this December, he’ll share the screen with Takeuchi Ryoma in the long-awaited film adaptation of 10DANCE.
Now, with HB Entertainment backing his moves in Korea, fans are speculating—could a K-drama debut be on the cards? Or maybe a Japan–Korea collaboration in the works?
Whatever the next chapter is, one thing’s for sure: Machida Keita’s star is shining far beyond Japan—and we’re here for it.
