Hong Kong actress Carman Lee Yeuk-tung, best known for her iconic role as Xiao Long Nu in TVB’s 1995 Return of the Condor Heroes, has shared a refreshingly candid take on life, love, and what truly makes her happy at 59.
In a recent social media video, Carman Lee revealed that while she once dreamed of marriage and motherhood, those ambitions no longer define her.
“When I was younger, I used to think, what if I got married and had children—would life be better? But after reflecting, I feel my current single life is the best arrangement life has given me. I cherish it,” she explained
Carman Lee admitted that in her younger years, she had “loved wildly and blindly,” sometimes even putting romance ahead of her career. She once dated a younger man, but said it ultimately didn’t work out.

Now, when asked whether she’d accept a confession from a younger suitor, she smiled and replied that romance is no longer a priority.
Instead, she draws her joy from her work. “I focus on what makes me happy today—acting, fashion, and connecting with fans. That’s enough,” she shared.
In an interview with Nanfang Weekly, the actress reflected on her journey through different decades. In her 30s, she said, she carried “many worries and insecurities,” but by her 50s, she felt wiser, calmer, and more at ease.
Looking ahead, Carman Lee hopes to maintain her fitness into her 70s and 80s, a goal she works toward by sharing workout and muscle training videos online.

Far from slowing down, Carman Lee has kept herself at the heart of the entertainment scene in recent years. She continues to appear in fashion campaigns, variety programmes, and brand endorsements, while also building a steady online presence through livestreams and fitness tutorials.
Before stepping into showbiz, Carman Lee worked as a flight attendant. She made her acting debut in 1990, but it was her ethereal performance as the “fairy-like” Xiao Long Nu that secured her legendary status. Even author Jin Yong himself once praised her portrayal as the definitive version of the character.
Nearly three decades later, Carman Lee is proving that contentment doesn’t have to come from ticking society’s boxes of marriage and children. For her, singlehood is not a compromise but a conscious choice—and one she wears with confidence.
