New Male Idol Project Produced by Yasushi Akimoto to Feature 300-Seat Theatre in Tokyo (PRTimes) |
Teaming up with property giant Mitsui Fudosan, Tokyo Dome, and Y&N Brothers, Yasushi Akimoto’s next big project will centre around a 300-capacity dedicated theatre housed inside a Mitsui-run commercial facility.
The plan? To give fans a front-row seat to see their favourite fresh-faced hopefuls grow from rookies to superstars with regular live shows and fan events.

Auditions for the group will kick off this summer (2025), aiming to sniff out hidden talents aged 12 to 26, who fancy their shot at stardom. No record label contracts allowed, and if you pass the cut, you’ll need to move to Tokyo and be ready to hit that stage on the regular.
The idea echoes Akimoto’s iconic “idols you can meet” concept — only this time, it’s all about the boys. By blending the pull of Mitsui’s commercial centres with Tokyo Dome’s powerhouse entertainment know-how, the project wants to create an entirely new culture where fans can literally watch their future faves blossom before their eyes.
The dedicated theatre is set to open in 2026, with a cosy 300-seat capacity to keep the buzz personal, and eventually the goal is to send the group to even bigger stages like domes and arenas.

Until then, the new group will cut their teeth doing regular shows, fan meet-ups, and plenty of opportunities to connect face-to-face with their audience.
Akimoto himself sounded properly chuffed, saying:
“When I heard the idea of building a theatre with Mitsui Fudosan, I was excited. They’re professionals at creating new city spaces, and putting entertainment right at the centre of that can definitely become a whole new culture.”
