Thai actress and die-hard Liverpool supporter WJMild has expressed deep sorrow following the tragic death of Liverpool striker Diogo Jota, who passed away in an incident in Zamora, Spain, on 3 July local time.

WJMild — whose real name is Lapassalan Jiravechsoontornkul — has long been known as one of Thailand’s most loyal Liverpool fans. 

Since childhood, she’s made several visits to Anfield and regularly shows off her Liverpool kits and favourite players on Instagram.

News of Jota’s sudden passing left her and countless other fans in shock. 

The Portuguese forward, who was only 28 and had just tied the knot with his longtime partner Rute Cardoso last month, was a hugely admired figure both for his club and his country.

Sharing a heartfelt Instagram tribute, the 30-year-old actress wrote alongside a photo of Jota:

“This is really heartbreaking💔
once I saw people posting about the news I still don’t believe it. But when I saw the BBC and the official announcement, I couldn’t believe. It’s really hard to believe it. Football has lost a magnificent talent who was a joy to watch and will be sorely missed. gone too soon😔
The world can be cruel. That’s why we have to cherish every moment. Your fight and joy on the pitch will forever be remembered. Sending sincere personal condolences to Diogo’s family for the tragic news.
