Pour Lui to Leave PIGGS but Stay On as Group Advisor

Pour Lui Bids Farewell to PIGGS But Won’t Quit Being an Idol
"I’m Not Done With Idols Yet" – Pour Lui to Leave PIGGS After Final Tour Stop in November

After shaking up the idol world for over a decade, Pour Lui is officially stepping down from PIGGS — the group she built, produced, and performed with since day one. The big announcement dropped on 7 July 2025, just ahead of their upcoming “BANG A GONG TOUR”, which kicks off on 19 July and wraps up at CLUB CITTA’, Kanagawa, on 29 November 2025 — her final show with the group.

But don’t panic, Boochanzu — the 34-year-old idol pioneer isn’t going anywhere. Not really.

🧡 A Big Goodbye, But Not the End

In a heartfelt message, Pour Lui (a.k.a. Puu-chan, Rui, or just Puu) opened up about her decision, citing “gradual misalignment” with the other members that had been building for over a year.

“I realised I couldn’t sing PIGGS songs at 200% anymore,” she admitted. “So I chose a path that lets me step back while still protecting what we built.”

Despite stepping down as a performer, she’s not cutting ties. Instead, she’ll continue as an advisor and consultant to PIGGS behind the scenes — proof that she still holds the group close to her heart.

“This was never about bad blood,” she insisted. “We had our ups and downs, but we were never enemies. It just came down to different visions, different dreams.”

🚀 A New Idol Project Already in the Works

While she may be walking away from the stage as a PIGGS member, Pour Lui made it crystal clear: she’s not retiring from idol life. Not even close.

In fact, she’s already got plans for a new idol unit under the PuuPuuLand umbrella. “I’ve still got dreams I want to chase,” she teased. “There’s a stage I still want to stand on, and a view I haven’t seen yet.”

🐷 PIGGS Members React: “We’re Still Going Strong as Five”

The five remaining members — SHELLME, BAN-BAN, KINCHAN, BIBI, and SU-RING — all shared emotional messages about their journey with Pour Lui and their commitment to carry on as a unit. While some admitted they initially feared disbandment, Pour Lui’s decision to step back instead of dissolving the group was met with gratitude.

SHELLME shared how she grew as a person thanks to Pour Lui’s mentorship, while BAN-BAN got candid about self-doubt and feeling responsible for the tension.

“I reflected a lot on my immaturity,” BAN-BAN wrote. “But now I want to stand tall and say, I’m still proud to be in PIGGS.”

SU-RING added, “There’s anxiety, sure. But my determination to keep going with PIGGS has only grown stronger.”

🎤 Pour Lui’s Idol Career So Far: A Brief Flashback

Pour Lui Announces Exit from PIGGS After November Tour

If you’re new to the Puu-verse, here’s the quick rundown:

  • Real name: Araki Rui (born August 20, 1990, Saitama)

  • Former groups: BiS (founder + original and 2nd gen), BILLIE IDLE®, SAiNT SEX, LUI FRONTiC Akabane JAPAN

  • Current gig: YouTuber (BYS – Brand-new YouTuber Society), singer, idol producer

  • Height: 161 cm

  • Known for: Doing idol stuff her own way, pushing the boundaries of genre, chaos, and self-expression

Pour Lui first made waves in the alt-idol scene with BiS in 2011, and after going solo and hopping between groups, she formed PIGGS in 2020 — a mix of grit, punk, and girlpower energy.

🎫 Final Tour: “BANG A GONG” Starts 19 July

This summer marks the last run of the six-member PIGGS — and it’s shaping up to be emotional. Titled “BANG A GONG TOUR,” the tour hits multiple cities before landing in Kanagawa on 29 November — Pour Lui’s final bow.

“We’ll give you the best version of PIGGS we’ve ever been,” she promised.

The rest of the members echoed that sentiment, determined to show fans — and themselves — that they can keep the party going, even with one less pig in the pen.

🎤 What’s Next?

PIGGS is here to stay — five strong, with Pour Lui still around in the shadows. And as for her? She’s already onto the next challenge.

“I’ve still got a dream to chase,” she said. “So don’t blink. The next group’s coming.”

Whatever form that takes, one thing’s for sure: Pour Lui’s legacy in the idol world isn’t over. It’s just levelling up.
