| Actress Mikie Hara Announces She Is Married, Surprising TV Audience |
In true TV variety fashion, Japanese actress Mikie Hara (38) casually flipped everyone’s expectations upside down by announcing her marriage live on-air — and not even her own family saw it coming.
The big reveal happened during the 15 July broadcast of Odoru! Sanma Goten!!, a beloved talk show hosted by comedy legend Sanma Akashiya. The episode's theme? Celebs with newlywed problems. But nobody expected Hara — who turned up looking fresh in a sleeveless green dress and playful hair flip — to be actually married.
With a calm smile and zero build-up, Mikie Hara simply said: “I’m married. This is the first time I’m saying it because it really just happened.” The studio fell into a moment of stunned silence before erupting into applause and cheers.
Secret Wedding? So Secret Even Her Family Didn’t Know

Turns out, the actress had kept her wedding a proper secret. Not just from the press, but also from close mates and a fair number of relatives. “There are still family members who don’t know,” she laughed. “It happened very recently, so I haven’t told everyone yet.”
Sanma, always quick to tease, raised an eyebrow — and fellow guest, comedian Komiya from Sanshiro, chimed in with a cheeky jab, joking that Sanma himself was probably the least trustworthy when it came to secrets. Cue more laughter all around.
Mikie Hara admitted she was a bit nervous saying it out loud for the first time, especially while filming. “I’m kind of on edge right now,” she confessed. “It’s the first time I’m mentioning it publicly... I wasn’t even sure I could trust my own relatives!”
From Gravure Star to Cutie Honey and Beyond

Mikie Hara first entered the public eye in 2003 when she scooped the Gravure Prize at the All-Japan National Beautiful Girl Contest. She went on to make a name for herself both as a gravure idol and as an actress, starring in the live-action series Cutie Honey THE LIVE. After stepping back from showbiz in 2018 to study abroad, she made her quiet comeback — and apparently, tied the knot along the way.
The identity of her husband hasn’t been disclosed yet, and fans are now buzzing with curiosity.
The show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account had teased that there’d be “a surprise announcement,” but no one clocked this coming. Definitely a power move in the world of hush-hush celebrity relationships.
