Ju Jingyi Injured on Set of Lai Zhan but Finishes Filming Without Delay |
Former SNH48 member and Chinese actress Kiku Ju a.k.a Ju Jingyi gave fans a bit of a scare recently after suffering a minor injury while filming her upcoming historical drama Lai Zhan. But ever the professional, Kiku brushed it off and got straight back to work — and netizens couldn’t be more impressed.
Behind-the-scenes snaps circulating on Weibo and drama forums show Ju Jingyi in costume, moments before a water-based action scene went slightly sideways (literally).
The scene involved splashing water — classic wuxia flair — but the ground turned out to be a bit too slippery. She slipped, hitting her chin against the sharp corner of a stone table. Ouch.

Thankfully, the production team acted fast, giving her on-the-spot first aid. After a short break, Ju Jingyi reportedly insisted on finishing the scene — and not only did she do that, but she wrapped the rest of the day’s shoot without any delay to the schedule. Now that’s dedication.
The incident was first reported by Sohu, and reactions online have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising Ju Jingyi's work ethic and commitment to her craft.
Oh No!!

“Even when injured, she delivers,” one fan posted. Others commented on how rare it is to see young stars staying so focused on set, especially during physically demanding shoots.

What’s Lai Zhan All About?
Set in a fantasy martial arts world teeming with rival sects, shadowy cults, and ancient grudges, Lai Zhan (literally “To Battle”) is shaping up to be one of Tencent Video’s biggest bets for late 2025.
The drama follows A Dai, played by Ju Jingyi, a serene yet unshakable disciple of the Qingyun Sect. She gets pulled into a growing storm between martial arts factions after the re-emergence of a dark cult threatening the balance of the jianghu. Along the way, she butts heads (and eventually hearts) with Li Shuo, the charismatic and slightly troubled young leader of the Lingxiao Sect, played by Zhang Yunlong.
Together, they uncover buried secrets, navigate shifting loyalties, and slowly build a bond that goes beyond swordplay. Think classic wuxia energy with a hint of enemies-to-allies romance.

The cast is stacked, too — Guo Cheng, Wang Yifei, and Li Mingde take on key roles from different martial sects, each adding flavour and intrigue to the story’s complex web of alliances and betrayals.
With 36 episodes lined up and a release planned for both Tencent Video in China and WeTV for global audiences, Lai Zhan is already making waves before it even airs. And thanks to Ju Jingyi’s stunt mishap (and fast recovery), the buzz is only getting stronger.
Online anticipation is building not just because of the genre or the action, but also due to the casting. Ju Jingyi and Zhang Yunlong’s on-screen chemistry has already been teased in promotional stills, and viewers are eager to see the dynamic between the composed A Dai and the fiery Li Shuo unfold.
Let’s just hope the rest of the filming goes smoothly — and injury-free — from here on out.
