Kankaku Piero Announces Disbandment After 12 Years

Kankaku Piero Announces Disbandment
Rock Band Kankaku Piero to Officially Disband in October 2025 – No Hiatus, Just Goodbye

Japanese rock band Kankaku Piero has officially announced they’ll be disbanding following their upcoming one-man tour, titled “MY NAME IS”, scheduled for October 2025. After over a decade of music-making, the band says it’s time to bring their journey to a close – not with a hiatus, but with a full stop.

Formed in Osaka back in July 2013, Kankaku Piero has been a mainstay in the indie rock scene – delivering addictive riffs, bold lyrics, and high-octane live shows. In a heartfelt message shared via their official site on July 25, the four-piece explained:

“After each member seriously considered their future and after many discussions, we decided not to go on hiatus but to officially disband.”

The band also extended deep thanks to their loyal fans and everyone who has supported them throughout the years, stating:

“We apologise for the sudden announcement. The time we have left is limited, but we’ll continue to face our music head-on, as Kankaku Piero, until the very end.”

🎤 Final Tour & Hometown Farewells

The “MY NAME IS” tour will consist of four final performances: two shows at Osaka’s club vijon – where the band first kicked things off – and two more at Shibuya Milkyway in Tokyo. These venues are especially meaningful, bookending the band’s career with the raw intimacy of their early gig days.

Ticket pre-orders will be open to fan club members from July 26 at 10:00 AM JST through to July 31 at 11:59 PM JST. It’s expected to be a hot ticket – proper farewell vibes.

🎶 Final Single: “I Wish to See You Again”

Before they bow out, Kankaku Piero will release their very last single, “I Wish to See You Again”, digitally on August 7. The track will start airing on national radio from July 25 at 9:00 PM JST, giving fans a taste of what might be the band’s most emotional release yet.

The band – known for their standout tracks like “Gimon Gito” (theme for the 2017 film Confession of Murder) and “Haikei, Itsuka no Kimi e” (theme for Yutori Desu ga Nani ka) – gained a reputation for fusing gritty emotion with lyrical bite. Despite operating outside the big-label circuit for most of their run, their reach and influence have been undeniable.

They were even the first act to get investment from Avex Ventures in 2017 – a nod to their potential and uniqueness in Japan’s competitive rock scene.

🧡 Fans React: “Can’t Believe It’s Really Ending”

News of the disbandment has sparked an emotional wave on social media, with many long-time fans expressing heartbreak, gratitude, and disbelief.

“Not Kankaku Piero too... this one hurts,” wrote one user.
“Thank you for being part of my youth. Let’s go wild for one last tour!” said another.
