Jing Tian & Zhang Binbin Reunite for Fantasy Drama ‘Long Gu Fen Xiang’ |
It’s official – the iconic Rattan couple is back on screen together! After four whole years, Rattan co-stars Jing Tian and Zhang Binbin (aka Vin Zhang) are teaming up once again for a brand-new drama, Long Gu Fen Xiang (龙骨焚箱) – and fans are already losing it.
The pair turned up all smiles and lowkey couple-coded at the June 10 boot ceremony, rocking matching lime green crew jackets like it’s 2021 all over again. But this ain’t just some random reunion. Long Gu Fen Xiang is adapted from a novel by Wei Yu, the very same author behind Rattan, and it’s being directed by Li Muge, who also helmed Rattan. Coincidence? We think not. While the two stories aren’t connected plot-wise, it’s giving spiritual sequel vibes in all the best ways.
Throwback to Rattan feels – but with new powers and new mysteries
Back when Rattan aired in 2021, fans couldn’t stop talking about the electric chemistry between Jing Tian’s sharp-tongued plant queen Si Teng and Zhang Binbin’s sweet mortal Qin Fang. Off-screen, the pair’s easy banter and chemistry had people shipping them left and right – and judging by their interactions now, that old spark never really faded.

This time round, Jing Tian plays Meng Qian Zi, a cold and commanding leader of the elusive mountain ghost clan, who carries the weight of an ancient legacy on her shoulders. Her arrival in Wuling kicks off a chain of supernatural drama when a mysterious thief steals her clan’s sacred golden bell. Cue danger, betrayal, and eerie omens involving walking corpses and water spirits.
On the flip side, Vin Zhang is stepping into the role of Jiang Lian, a warm-hearted mystery man with a suspiciously good temper and some serious secrets. Sounds a bit like Qin Fang 2.0, but with more hidden agenda and fewer clueless expressions.
Plot summary (drama nerd mode on):
Set 32 years after the fall of the old throne, Long Gu Fen Xiang follows Meng Qian Zi as she takes on the role of spiritual leader for the mountain ghosts – a people who just want peace and quiet, honestly. But her mission to Wuling quickly turns chaotic: a triple mirage appears (a rare magical phenomenon), her sacred heirloom gets swiped during a stormy bead-hunting mission, and suddenly the secrets of Pou Mountain start leaking like nobody’s business.
As the body count rises and weird magic starts creeping in, Jiang Lian pops up at the exact moment things go south. Is he there to help… or is he part of the problem? Add in ghostly water dwellers, shady wizards, and an ancient forest full of locked-up secrets, and you’ve got yourself a fantasy drama full of old-school mystique and modern pacing.

Final Thoughts
Whether you’re here for the fantasy, the tension, or just to see Jing Tian and Vin Zhang share screen time again (guilty), Long Gu Fen Xiang is shaping up to be one of those dramas that brings the feels and the spectacle. It’s got ancient curses, ghost clans, missing relics, and a leading couple with chemistry that could light up an entire mountain range.
No word yet on a release date, but filming’s officially kicked off, so fingers crossed we see it hit screens sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.
