From Stage to Heartstrings: Shiga Lin Wraps Musical Run with Tears, Cheers & Camila’s Backstage Debut (Mingpao)

It was an emotional wrap-up for Shiga Lin (連詩雅) as her run in the original musical 38·28·18 came to a heartfelt close — and let’s just say, tissues were definitely in short supply backstage.

Turning in a performance full of fire and feeling alongside co-star Raymond Wong (黃浩然), Shiga gave her all in the final curtain call, but it wasn’t just the audience that was moved.

Actress and close friend Priscilla Wong (黃翠如) was spotted in the crowd, tearing up as the story unfolded. “I thought I came just to cheer her on, but I ended up crying the whole time,” she laughed on Instagram, sharing snaps with Shiga post-show. “It reminded me of those early days of chasing dreams onstage. So intense. So raw. So good.”

Also in attendance were a string of celeb mates, including Shiga’s husband Edwin Siu (蕭正楠), and fellow actress Yoyo Chen (陳自瑤), who’s recently welcomed a baby of her own. The circle of support was strong, but one tiny guest may have stolen the spotlight entirely.

Yup — Shiga and Carlos Chan’s (陳家樂) baby girl Camila, who’s turning one next month, made a surprise backstage appearance during rehearsals, thanks to dad Carlos personally bringing her over. “She was bobbing her little body to the music during the warmups,” Shiga beamed, calling her “our youngest backstage fan”.

Shiga Lin's Musical Finale Draws Star-Studded Support, Baby Camila Becomes Cutest Cast Member

It was a full-circle moment for the working mum, who revealed she once burst into tears at home after seeing Camila sound asleep following a long day of rehearsals.

“It hit me how much I was missing out,” she admitted. “But then again, I want Camila to grow up seeing her mum chasing her passion.”

Shiga Lin has been praised for juggling mum life with a demanding stage role, and the production itself — which explores themes of age, womanhood, and inner strength — clearly struck a chord not just with audiences but the cast themselves.

With strong vocals, sharp choreography, and plenty of emotional depth, 38·28·18 proved to be more than just a musical — it became a milestone moment for Shiga.

As the lights dimmed on the final show, hugs, selfies, and bouquets filled the wings. One photo showed Camila reaching for her mum’s stage mic, prompting fans to joke that the next-gen star might be following in her parents’ footsteps sooner than expected.
