New mekakushe Track “Yuwanamerou” Now Streaming – A Subtle Heartbreaker from Kowloon Generic Romance (Press Release) |
Singer-songwriter mekakushe is back tugging on our heartstrings with “Yuwanamerou”, a delicately crafted insert song featured in Episode 10 of the hit anime Kowloon Generic Romance.
The track officially hit streaming platforms on 8 June, and it’s already making waves with fans of the series—and mellow indie pop lovers alike.
For those keeping track, “Yuwanamerou” marks mekakushe’s third contribution to the anime’s increasingly popular soundtrack, following the ethereal ending theme “Retronym of Love” and the reflective insert ballad “Watashi Dake no Polaris” from Episode 7.
This latest drop cements mekakushe as a core musical voice behind the emotional undercurrents of the show.
The song was written and composed by mekakushe herself, with the arrangement handled by Ryohei Sataka of Hifumi Inc.—who also composed the overall score for the anime.
The result?
A wistful yet quietly intense piece that mirrors the series’ complex female lead and the bittersweet atmosphere of a love story wrapped in urban mystery.
With a soft, almost whispery delivery and layered instrumentation, “Yuwanamerou” (roughly translated as “Let the Hot Water Cool”) plays with contrasts—just like Kowloon Generic Romance itself. It's dreamy but sharp, vulnerable yet composed.
The anime, based on Jun Mayuzuki’s latest manga (yes, the creator of After the Rain), has already sold over 1.5 million copies, and its soundtrack is quickly becoming a cult favourite among those who like their romance with a splash of noir.
