| GENBLUE Wows Malaysian Fans with ‘Act Like That’ Flash Mob and Local Food Adventures |
Fresh off their debut mini album ACT LIKE THAT, Taiwan’s rising K-pop girl group GENBLUE have been on a whirlwind promo tour across Asia — and when they landed in Malaysia, they went all-in on the local experience. From spontaneous flash mobs to batik painting and roti canai cravings, it’s safe to say these girls didn’t just drop by — they showed up.
For their first-ever appearance in Malaysia, the six members — AYEON, XXIN, YUAN, LILI, AYAKO and NICO — made it a proper cultural immersion. Instead of just sticking to press runs and photo ops, the group embraced the full Malaysian welcome: sightseeing around the capital, mingling with local media, and pulling off a cheeky little flash mob in the middle of Pavilion KL.
Yep, a flash mob. And not just any flash mob — we’re talking about a live performance of their title track “Act Like That” right in the middle of the bustling shopping centre. Dressed to the nines in coordinated fits and flashing megawatt smiles, they had onlookers stopping in their tracks, phones out, jaws open.

As they wrapped up with a warm “Apa khabar? Kita GENBLUE!”, the crowd practically melted. That bit of Bahasa Malaysia? Instant crowd-pleaser. Malaysian fans — fondly known as COOKIE — were totally smitten.
But it wasn’t all glam and performances. The girls took time out for something hands-on and deeply local — a batik painting workshop. With wax pens in hand and colour palettes at the ready, each member added their flair to the traditional art form. The instructors were all praise, saying the girls “picked it up like naturals”. LILI even joked hers was “abstract modern batik realness”.
And what’s a trip to Malaysia without a mamak session? GENBLUE hit up a local stall for a taste of the legendary roti canai, and by all accounts, it was love at first bite. “Sedap! Sedap!” they chorused, wide-eyed and munching happily. NICO apparently had three servings. Respect.

Malaysia wasn’t the only stop on their 15-day Asia promo adventure. Before arriving in KL, the group had already stirred up buzz in Hong Kong and Bangkok. In Thailand, they collab’d on TikTok dance challenges with local stars like Pisitpol “Jump” Ekaphongpisit, Patchata “Fiat” Janngeon, girl groups Véra and Blyss, and even mini star Nina Nutthacha Jessica Padovan from Gen Alpha fame. Talk about blending borders.
The impact? Pretty clear. GENBLUE’s social media numbers jumped by nearly 20% during the tour — not bad for rookies, eh? Plus, their K-POP Rookie Award win at last year’s Korea Culture Entertainment Awards is looking more and more like the beginning of something big.

The girls have now returned to Taiwan for a final fan meeting and signing event to cap off the tour — but don’t worry, this isn’t goodbye. Word on the street is that GENBLUE are already working on new music, expected to drop around September 2025. So, COOKIEs, hold tight — the next comeback might just top this one.
