Fujii Kaze Unveils New Era With “Prema” – New Single “Hachiko” Out Now |
After keeping us waiting for what felt like yonks, Fujii Kaze has finally announced his third full album, “Prema”, landing 5 September 2025. This marks his first studio release in over three years since LOVE ALL SERVE ALL back in 2022 – and this time, he’s gone full English. Yep, every single track.
“Prema” (which cheekily nods to the Sanskrit word for love) comes in two flavours: a regular CD version packed with nine fresh tracks, and a limited 2CD edition that includes a bonus disc titled “Pre: Prema.” That one bundles six previously released tracks – like Feelin’ Go(o)d, Hana, and Masshiro – plus an unreleased gem, It’s Alright.
And just to sweeten the drop, Kaze’s gone ahead and released the album’s first digital single today: “Hachiko.” Inspired by the classic film Hachiko Monogatari, the tune pays homage to loyalty, devotion – and yeah, a bit of puppy energy. The music video, directed by long-time collaborator MESS, sees Kaze leaning right into that doggo metaphor with a playful visual twist. (Yes, there’s actual puppy play. You’ve been warned.)
Kaze spilled a bit of behind-the-scenes tea too – turns out Hachiko was born from a co-write session in LA way back in 2022. Tobias Jesso Jr. asked if he’d ever written anything in Japanese, and they got chatting about “that statue of the dog in Shibuya.”

Next thing you know, Sir Nolan built a beat on the spot. Fast-forward a few years, Kaze watched the film, the melody hit him like a ton of bricks, and the lyrics came tumbling out.
“It was all a bit of a playful moment at first,” he said. “But then I realised, Hachiko’s loyalty… it’s kind of like the fans who waited patiently for my third album too! laughs”

With Prema, Kaze is clearly shifting into a global gear – English lyrics, genre-blurring melodies, and heartfelt storytelling that still feels very him. One thing’s for sure: whether you’re in it for the dog metaphors or the sonic evolution, Prema is shaping up to be one for the books.
