Edison Chen Clarifies Mid-Flight Incident With Airline Staff |
Hong Kong celeb Edison Chen (陈冠希) has mostly kept a low profile in recent years, enjoying life as a dad and staying clear of drama. But it seems old habits die hard — or at least, tensions still fly high at 30,000 feet. On 1st June 2025, an alleged in-flight confrontation has thrown him back into the spotlight, and netizens are split on who's in the wrong.
A XiaoHongShu user recently recounted a fiery exchange on a Japan–New York flight, involving a “Chinese passenger” who clashed with a flight attendant over what he believed was unfair treatment. According to the post, things escalated just as the plane landed — with a Japanese VIP being ushered off first while others were asked to wait.
But one passenger wasn’t having it.
“You said he’s a VIP, right? Please look at my boarding pass — I am a Diamond Card member. Tell me, what is the difference between him and me?!” the man reportedly snapped at the crew. It didn’t stop there. A voice recording even captured the line: “Bring me the complaint form. I’ll make you lose your job!”

Though the post never named names, internet sleuths quickly did the math. The voice, the attitude, the timing — it all pointed to none other than Edison Chen, who had posted on socials about flying that very day.
💼 Agency Responds, Confirms Identity
Hours after the post blew up, Edison’s agency stepped in to clear the air. Yes, the person in question was Edison. But no, it didn’t go down quite the way it was being spun online.
According to the agency’s statement, Edison was simply trying to retrieve his bag from the overhead bin when things got tense.
Passengers behind him were pushing forward in a rush to get off, despite the doors not even being open yet. He reportedly asked — calmly — if he could grab his luggage before others surged ahead.
That’s when the flight attendant stopped him, claiming that the other passenger had Diamond Card status and priority rights. Edison Chen, also being a Diamond Card holder himself, was understandably confused and pressed for clarification.
The tone may have gone up, but the agency insists it was all a misunderstanding over status and communication, not a meltdown.

🗣️ Still No Word From Edison Himself
Edison hasn’t personally addressed the row yet, but the agency says they’re in talks with the airline to straighten things out. Meanwhile, they’ve asked the public not to jump to conclusions and to stop spreading unverified versions of the story.
✈️ Flying Frustrations Are Relatable — But Still Risky

Now, nobody’s saying Edison handled the moment with perfect grace — yelling about firing cabin crew isn’t exactly textbook travel etiquette — but anyone who’s travelled often enough knows how easily tempers can flare when delays, status, and suitcases collide.
Whether it was an ego trip or just a case of clashing rules and personalities, this latest saga shows that even stars aren’t immune to airport aggro. Let’s just hope things cool down and both sides can move on without further turbulence.
