| Ayumi Hamasaki Denies Bizarre Rumour Linking Her to Elon Musk’s 14th Child |
It’s not every day your name gets casually dropped into an international scandal about tech billionaires, political chaos, and mysterious babies — but for J-pop queen Ayumi Hamasaki, welcome to 2025.
Late last week, The New York Times dropped a bombshell exposé on Elon Musk’s personal life, including revelations from American conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair — the mum of Musk’s 14th (!) child. Amongst all the eyebrow-raising claims, one line stood out: Elon apparently told her he’s fathered children “around the world,” including with “a Japanese pop star.” Oh?
Cue absolute chaos on the internet.
Japanese netizens and celeb-watchers immediately started guessing who this unnamed J-pop star might be. Mainstream media kept things vague — no names, just vague nods. But the online mob had no such filter, and one name kept popping up: Ayumi Hamasaki.
Why Ayu, you ask? Well, a few dots lined up a bit too neatly for conspiracy theorists. She’s had two children (in 2019 and 2021) without ever revealing the father's name. She’s had two foreign ex-husbands, has spent a fair bit of time in California — the same state Musk used to call home — and, well, she is Japan’s original pop diva.
The speculation got so loud that Ayumi Hamasaki finally had to step in. And in true Ayu fashion, she did it with grace, humour, and just the right touch of sass.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, she broke her silence with a calm but cheeky denial. She said she’d been watching the wild gossip swirl around quietly but figured it was time to speak up — especially for the sake of her kids, who might one day Google this mess.
Flat-out, she said it: Elon Musk is not the father of her children.

But Ayu didn’t stop there. She kept it light, saying she totally gets why people would think it’s her — even her own mum joked, “This sounds like Ayu-chan!” And to be fair, Ayu admitted with a laugh that if she was an outsider reading the story, she might have thought the same thing.
“Just in case my child searches it someday, I’m going to deny it properly,” she wrote, before signing off with a simple, classic: “The end.”

Meanwhile, over on Japanese TV, comedian Ariyoshi Hiroiki chimed in during his Sunday night show, saying it was “embarrassing” to even try and guess who the pop star could be. Still, he cheekily pointed out that if you look at Japan’s limited pool of superstar divas of a certain age, the guesswork wasn’t exactly tough.
