Alex Fong’s Father’s Day came with an extra reason to celebrate—he’s going to be a dad. The singer-actor took to Instagram on 15 June to share the heartwarming news that he and wife Maple Yip are expecting their first child together.
The post, simple but symbolic, featured a throwback to their marriage announcement from February: a sketch of two green stick figures at the Santa Monica pier.
This time, though, a third, smaller white stick figure had joined the picture—clearly marking the start of their new journey into parenthood.
He captioned it: “I’m going to be a dad. Wishing everyone a Happy Father’s Day #itsawonderfonglife.”
Alex also gave a nod to his own father in the post, writing, “My dad is turning 80 this year. I wish him good health and boundless energy!”
Naturally, the comments were flooded with love and well wishes. Fred Cheng, Benjamin Yuen, Grace Wong and Kay Tse were among those who congratulated the couple, with Kay adding, “Congratulations, I’m so happy for you.”
Alex Fong and Maple Yip quietly tied the knot earlier this year, announcing the news on Valentine’s Day with a now-iconic post from the US: “We got married here. Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day. #itsawonderfonglife.”
Their relationship became public in 2023, with many recognising Maple from the Netflix documentary In the Name of God: A Holy Betrayal, where she bravely shared her story as a survivor of the South Korean cult led by Jung Myung-seok.
Since then, the couple have kept things low-key, but meaningful—choosing to let their relationship and milestones unfold at their own pace, in their own way.
And now, as they prepare to welcome a new member into the family, fans can’t help but feel the love. From newlyweds to soon-to-be parents, it’s shaping up to be a truly “WonderFong” chapter for the pair.
