Zhao Lusi Apologizes After Drastically Shortened Set at Music Festival, Offers Fans Ticket Compensation |
Chinese actress and singer Zhao Lusi made headlines after her scheduled 30-minute headlining performance at the "Beijing Genki Forest Music Festival" on May 1 was unexpectedly cut down to just 7 minutes, leaving fans shocked and heartbroken.
Originally set to close the festival with a three-song set including a highly anticipated debut of her new track Look Yourself, Zhao Lusi was only able to perform two songs—You R and Having You There—before being ushered off stage.
The sudden curtailing of her performance sparked immediate backlash from attendees, many of whom had queued overnight to secure prime viewing spots. Cries of “refund our tickets!” echoed through the crowd, with some fans moved to tears by the abrupt ending.

The delay was reportedly caused by a last-minute traffic accident that held up performances earlier in the evening, notably affecting the band Sunset Rollercoaster. As a result, multiple acts had their set times reduced.

Despite the schedule chaos, organizers reportedly insisted on maintaining 20 minutes of commercial breaks and adhered strictly to a 10:00 PM venue curfew, ultimately sacrificing artist stage time—Zhao Lusi’s included.

Visibly emotional and dressed in a vibrant floral blouse paired with summer-ready leather pants, Rosy later returned to the stage after changing clothes to personally apologise to her fans.
Choking back tears, she said, “I was about to leave, but I saw so many of you still here. I’m so sorry—everything ran behind, and I only had 15 minutes. Please don’t cry. You can contact my studio with your ticket to receive a gift.”
Her impromptu return and genuine concern left many fans deeply touched, especially given Zhao Lusi’s recent health struggles. In 2024, she paused all professional activities following a diagnosis of dissociative disorder and depression, discovered during the filming of Lovers. She only resumed work earlier this year and has since been active in public welfare.
In a further act of goodwill, Lusi reportedly performed at the music festival pro bono, even donating ¥1 million RMB (approx. $140,000 USD) to charity ahead of her appearance.
That fact made the festival organisers’ mismanagement even more frustrating to fans and online observers. Many took to social media to criticise the event’s poor planning and inflexible handling of delays.
“Zhao Lusi didn’t take a cent and still got treated like this?” wrote one netizen. “She’s the one apologizing, but it’s the organizers who should be held accountable.”
For now, Zhao Lusi’s team has confirmed that fans can claim compensation by presenting their ticket stubs to her studio, underscoring her continued commitment to her supporters—proving once again why she remains one of the most beloved stars in the industry.
