Just Bad Timing? Ryota Bando Caught in the Crossfire of Mei Nagano’s Scandal Storm (Yahoo JP) |
Talk about bad timing. Actor Ryota Bando has found himself unintentionally swept into the chaos surrounding actress Mei Nagano’s current scandal — and all because of one little tap on X (formerly Twitter).
It started when Bando — who starred alongside Mei Nagano in the 2022 drama Unicorn ni Notte — mistakenly reshared an article with a very pointed headline: “Mei Nagano’s Sunday Theater Scene Cut Drastically?”
It wasn’t up for long, but the internet’s screenshot game is strong, and before you could say “delete,” the post had already made its rounds online.

Mei Nagano, of course, is in the middle of a tabloid firestorm over an alleged love triangle involving actors Kei Tanaka and Kim Mu Jun.
She’s denied any romantic ties, but the fallout has already chipped away at her previously untouchable “pure” image. And now, thanks to Bando’s repost, a whole new wave of gossip is crashing in.
Why?
Because fans haven’t forgotten those whispers from back in the Unicorn ni Notte days.
There were speculations that the two were more than just friendly co-stars — sparked by matching phone cases, suspiciously similar nail designs, and a bit too much chemistry in behind-the-scenes footage.

A photo spreading on social media (via X) shows strikingly similar phone cases, sparking “subtle hint?” speculation. |
The rumours had died down after Nagano Mei publicly brushed them off, saying she’d rather report a relationship properly than leave cryptic hints.
Fair enough.
But Bando’s accidental post has breathed new life into the old speculation.
Cue the net detectives, digging up “evidence” and spinning new theories.
Some are now even wondering if Bando and Nagano’s “thing” overlapped with her supposed involvement with Tanaka — a theory that’s more messy than believable, but it’s social media, so logic is optional.
To be fair, there’s a chance Bando wasn’t even the one who made the post.
His account is reportedly managed by staff, and no clarification has been made so far.
But whether it was him or not, the damage is done.
He’s now being side-eyed for a romance rumour that had been put to bed ages ago.
Fans have been quick to react:
-
“Bando?? Bro, not now…”
-
“This is the worst possible time to be messy online.”
-
“Wait… were they actually a thing back then?”
Whether it was just an innocent slip or something more telling, one thing’s for sure: getting accidentally tangled up in Mei Nagano’s current scandal is not a good look — especially when everyone’s already on edge.
Poor Bando might’ve just been scrolling too fast… but now he’s trending for all the wrong reasons.
